Jan was the better striker

Poatan def kept his hands low because of the TD

and still won

The better striker doesn't shoot within the first 10 seconds. Just saying.
He does if he's the way better wrestler.

It's the same logic that Khabib/Chael/Randleman are better strikers than Conor/Silva/CroCop. Maybe when their opponent is dealing with takedown threat, but no way they win a kickboxing match. Jan went full wrestler from the get go.
No. The same logic doesn't apply. Khabib had Lesnar-esque fear when it came to throwing hands. He swung for the fences against McGregor and it barely earned him a knockdown.

Also, what kickboxing match are you talking about? An actual kickboxing match or an MMA fight where two opponents just decide to strike? Because if it's the latter, then I disagree. Pereira will get knocked out by brawlers who can throw combinations in the pocket. You saw that he had to constantly reshuffle every time he throws. His style is more effective in boxing and kickboxing where you can clinch when you are in trouble and the ref separate you.

I'm saying shit like those matchups I listed, if they took place in a kickboxing match, they wouldn't win standing. There are plenty of fighters where the striker/grappler beat the pure striker standing in MMA. My point is it's the threat of takedowns and all the other aspects of grappling that give them the win standing. I do not think Jan would beat Izzy or Pereira in kickboxing or bareknuckle kickboxing, or any standup only fight. He may be able to beat both guys in MMA but it's because his game is well rounded. I don't care if he was able to outstrike both standing.

I don’t know if it was more the high altitude affecting or his age catching up to him but Jan’s cardio really set him back yesterday.

I am fully convinced that the Jan in his championship run would have knocked Pereira out in the second round. He was clearly the quicker and more effective striker in the phonebooth yesterday. It wasn’t until he was exhausted that Pereira started landing his shots.
really?
In case you not familiar, Jan was the guy with the broken nose, who did zero damage on the stand up a went for a td every time he could.
The other is Alex, who outlanded him with ease when the fight was on the stand up.

Jan's striking was also a function of it being an MMA fight. Alex had to mind the takedown.

With that being said, Alex should have really let his hands go in the 3rd more than he did once it became clear that Jan was too tired to take him down again.

The guy gassed himself out desperately trying to avoid striking with a fresh Pereira. I mean, that pretty much says everything.
I can't disagree with that but shooting doesn't mean you aren't the better striker 100%. It might just mean you are vastly superior in grappling and have an actual fight IQ. That's all I am saying.

Yeah Jan used the Poirier strategy against Conor. Shoot immediately and establish the takedown threat/tire his opponent out. That doesn't make him a better striker even if he managed to win the striking with such a strategy.

I agree
He was the better dresser on the night, too
Fighting a HW weight cutter in potan is no easy task

lol gotta love sherdog, D1 Jan shot for a TD almost before the bell rang and almost all his shots standing were pitter patter half assed jabs and yet somehow he's the better striker!

No, Jan's face was cracked but he is one though fighter, most would have folded but not Jan. He put up a good fight in a somewhat "bad" showing from both guys

I thought Jan had the rear choke in the 1st round
