News Jack Della Maddalena broke his arm vs Gilbert Burns, may need surgery

What a beast. Shavkhat fight probably won't happen next as I imagine Jack won't be back til late 2024 at the earliest and surely Shavkhat would want to fight before then. I wonder what caused the break. Did Giblert land a big attempted head kick that JDM blocked?

Hopefully sooner, kids heal up from breaks like that in 4 weeks. Adult maybe 6-8?

That doesn't seem realistic to me.

The Ulna is a finicky with healing compared to the Radius. That does not appear to be a stable / simple fracture. I don't believe he's eligible for a cast, this is getting reduced and then he's off to surgery.

Probably cleared for regular activity within 6 weeks, he may need some PT. For resuming grappling and punching? I would assume a good bit longer. It takes 4-6 months for bones to fully heal.

Giblert broke that with one of his early kicks, yes? They looked powerful and for sure did some damage. I guess that’s that.

Hespect for fighting through it and getting the finish. When he rolled out from under Burns in the third I was all  and straight after landed the knee. Noice

Most likely blocking a body kick sir.

yeah that sounds about right. I've broken enough bones to know. neck of femur, humerus, clavicle, others too.
Humerus was the worst. Triple spiral fracture.

You sound like a GP or an ortho specialist.... maybe.

Pretty much, the grappling will actually be harder than the striking with the strength required to pronate/supinate (rotate) the forearm.

Say he has surgery next week, that's 6-8 weeks weeks to heal, then we would have a lot of muscle atrophy. Take him that long again to rebuild the muscle, takes us to 12-16 weeks. Then he is going to have to return to full contact grappling and striking, you'd want another 6-8 weeks training before leading into a fight minimum.

Best case, 4-5 months, till his next fight but 6 months more likely. Good thing about an arm, he should be able to keep his fitness on point.
