Media Izzy keeps talking as if they are 1-1

"Tomorrow night is one and done"
"This is my one shot, my 8 mile moment"
"I get to prove I'm the better fighter"

I love the guy but come one, you are 0-3 and 0-1 in MMA, even if he wins, mathematically speaking, Alex is still the better fighter.
He was never a better fighter, even when he won. Also, if Kron Gracie and Beneil Dariush fought, would you count their grappling record in context of their MMA fights (Kron won)? Of course you wouldn't so yeah, they are 1-1 and Izzy was a better fighter in both fights.

Dude, big difference between BJJ and Kickboxing, specially given how Izzy and Alex fight.

Right. Because he's an MMA fighter in THE UFC now and not a kickboxer in a different organization.

Alex will never get to fight Israel again. Israel will be a hall of famer and no one will remember Alex. It might seem unfair, but that's what's going to happen.

Doesn't matter, just the thought that someone can do something other than kick and punch makes all the difference. Not to say Izzy is light years ahead of what he was, there is a cage and different gloves (which Perreira used a lot as defense in kb), all the little details. It is not the same sport and there is no sense in counting KB fights in MMA legacy.

If you are an Alex fan, and it makes you feel better to bring up old fights from another sport, have at it. But know it is goofy. This is MMA.

Payton Manning beat Tom Brady several times at one-on-one basketball, so he is therefore ahead of Brady in "wins." Brady would have to beat him in several more super bowls to be ahead, because any win "counts" right?

This is a different sport. You guys dont count izzy’s knockout wins in kickboxing and add it to his mma wins and knockouts, yet u use his losses when its to your advantage.

I’m an Izzy fan as a fighter, I ain’t doing shit. Whoever i quoted was why in context I said 1-3. All these guys do in their MMA bouts is basically kickbox and I think everyone understands the context that 2 were kickboxing and 2 were MMA. In any event they’re all fun fights to watch and they’ve each exchanged a lot of leather and I respect both for their respective wins.
I’m in the lucky position to not be a fanboy of either

I think it’d be more fair to mention it Manning beat Brady in college football, and, if the media build up to their meetings in the NFL was founded upon those match ups

nobody should be using kickboxing data to say Alex > Izzy in MMA. But Alex and him are 1-1 in MMA with exchanged knockouts and competitive fights. Izzy obviously had the better mma career

To be fair, in MMA they are 1-1. Putting it in perspective, nobody would care if this were a grappling situation instead of a kickboxing one. As if the kickboxing matches count but grappling matches don’t. One would get treated as a monumental achievement and the other would get treated as a fun piece of trivia.

Which is why instant rematches suck and are sometimes just a roll of the dice. It becomes meaningless. Peña completely shocks the world and beats Nunes, Nunes returns with vintage form and wins effortlessly, and now we have to do it again. What’s the point in counting losses of everyone gets a do over?
Totally understand what your saying but both of them were legit proven champs who deserved the rematch for what they gave respectively done in their division.

Who is ignoring what just happened? That doesn't erase the other fights, still 3-1 and 2-1 in finished with one less than a year ago, saying it doesn't matter its dumb, that's combat sports history.

Lol you fool. Couldn't even wait until the fight started to write this nonsense.

Combat sports history? Haha. Don't give us that bullshit they fought less than six months ago.

Yes he is!!! I also count the times he beat him in chess and Madden.

How are you feeling today??? Plus Izzy should have won the first fight...and was dominating the second (as well as the last MMA fight) before the finishes.

Too bad about those pesky finishes.

The sad reality is whoever wins last wins best. Like you can say izzy lost 3 times but in the end he won by brutal ko finish. And he'll be able to say in the end i became the better fighter and champion and left him behind. Its what ppl will remember the most. Its probably the fight that had the most eyes on it and the vast majority of mma fans and izzy fans dont care about the kickboxing fights either. So yes izzy is talking like this after losing to a guy in some close fights. He ended it in spectacular fashion and the only ppl who will bring up the past are those who dislike him anyway.

This isnt my opinions but the general reality of the situation.
