It's October... Halloween/Horror Movies

Speaking of horror movies filmed where you live, I used to live in the town where the original The Town That Dreaded Sundown was filmed. Oddly enough its the same town where the real life murders happened that the movie was based on. We lived across the street from the building that was the high school in the movie they would have had the camera in our front yard to get that shot of the building.

I never knew any of this until Scream came out when we were living there, they referenced that movie and I found it at blockbuster, mind was blown.
Texarkana?

Has someone mentioned Slumber Party Massacre yet. Fun little exploitation movie.

And the sequel has a cool musical number

Yeah love the first one, I think I slept through most of the second so that requires another viewing one day

Along with the nice shiney new Blu Ray, Shout Factory also put out this action figure to go with it

oh most def
just look for these:

Joshua Trees are endemic to the Mojave Desert, so if you see these anywhere in a movie, it's a good bet it's filmed at least somewhat near me
a staggering amount of Car commercials are filmed here

That's a cool little movie, I have a feeling there is a shitty remake somewhere in existence

Wife and I watched this last weekend, I only chose it because I thought Daphne Zuniger is in it (I love me some Daphne).

I think I'll watch all the Re-animators this month.

That's a good call, great movies

Did you ever watch Castle Freak? One of my favorite 90's horror movies (not many of them), directed by Sturat Gordon and starring Jeffrey Combs as well.
Neat little movie

I find it fascinating to go through ol Horror series, and try to discern which sequel is actually worth a shit or sometimes even highly legit

Like everyone knows Jason Takes Manhattan is a patently ridiculous film, one where Jason literally walks underwater along the seafloor to get from a cruise ship to the shore (wtf, he's literally scared of water). He does, however, decapitate an Olympic trials level boxer w/ one punch so there's that. It's also CLEARLY filmed in Canada and trying to pass off as NYC hahaha. So not that movie, IOW

But sometimes you actually find a legit movie, like say Death Wish IV (for a non Horror version) or Exorcist III being a badass, taut thriller. or say Army of Darkness which was much more comical than Evil Deads I and II

I think many people would say NoES 3: Dream Warriors is the best one of the group

You're spot on with Exorcist 3,it's one of the best serial killer thrillers out there.
The director's cut, Legion, removes most all supernatural elements, especially the gaudy final exorcism, and makes for a much better movie, though I do like both versions.

The Phantasm series are mostly pretty good, but then you have The Howling series which has an awesome first movie and the rest are pretty bad.

Jason Takes Manhattan should have been called Jason Takes a Boat to Manhattan!
I still like it though

Excorcist III has one of the dopest/best Jumpscares of all time, when that spirit randomly slinks across the hallway all weird w/ shearers

Even if you know it's coming, you're still like 'wtf was that?'

Yes! I haven’t seen that one in awhile. That was a good one, think I need to rewatch it.

Also, as a fan of Jeffrey Combs, did you ever see From Beyond? Another good one that plays like reanimator.

If I remember correctly that one long take as well I think, you know so methionine coming but not that!

Best scene is George C Scott with the carp in the bath tub, one of the best stories in cinema history!
