It's October... Halloween/Horror Movies

Never watched that actually, looks pretty good

I swear all I do these days is hunt down movies I haven't seen

Its Got David Warner of Time bandits and Time after Time and Omen fame

Still never seen Slither, is it worth a go?

In The Mouth of Madness is pretty cool, Sam Neil is wicked

And as for Hell Night, if it has Linda Blair, I'm watching it.
Big Linda Blair fan, Hell Night is nothing groundbreaking but it is pretty good fun, cool make up on the bad guy as well

Slither is the best comedy-horror film since Evil Dead 2, or Army of Darkness, depending on who you ask. It's directed by James Gunn but much better than anything else he has done to be quite honest.

It also has the best advertisement in a movie for Mr. Pibb.

31 must watch movies for the Halloween season imo.

Not necessarily the scariest or best but films that feel like Halloween to me with some comedy mixed in to lighten the mood.

1. Horror of Dracula - Can't go wrong with Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing
2. Demons - This movie is exactly what I thought a horror movie was before I was old enough to actually watch them.
3. Bubba Ho-Tep - Bruce Campbell as a geriatric Elvis and Ossie Davis as JFK vs a Mummy dressed in western attire.
4. The Howling - Inferior to AAWIL but still a great werewolf flick with genuinely creepy scenes and great practical effects.
5. The Fog 1980 - A fun pirate ghost story with Tom Atkins and Jaime Lee Curtis.
6. What We Do In the Shadows - Hilarious riff on vampires filmed like a reality tv show.
7. Zombie - A zombie fights a shark. What more do you need?
8. Monster Squad - The Goonies meets the Universal Monsters.
9. Child's Play - A doll possessed by a potty mouthed serial killer with great practical effects.
10. Shaun of The Dead - I can watch this at anytime.
11. Evil Dead 1981 - A cabin in the woods, demon possession and creativity pushed to the limits on a shoestring budget.
12. Frankenstein 1931 - There is no better Frankenstein flick.
13. Friday the 13th Part IV The Final Chapter - What else are you going to watch on the 13th?
14. Night of the Living Dead 1968 - The birth of the zombie as we know it.
15. Salem's Lot 1979 - Technically a made for TV movie and runs a little long but iconic and worth the run time.
16. Deathgasm - A high school death metal band brings about the apocalypse in a hilarious fashion.
17. Silver Bullet - A kid in a rocket fueled wheel chair and Gary Busey vs a werewolf.
18. Hellraiser - Clive Barker adapted and directed with great practical effects.
19. A Nightmare on Elm Street - Classic 80's slasher with high points for creativity.
20. Return of the Living Dead - ridiculously fun unofficial sequel to NotLD.
21. Young Frankenstein - Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder.
22. Pumpkinhead - What says Halloween more than a demon hit man born in a pumpkin patch?
23. Christine - John Carpenter can make anything scary/cool even a classic car.
24. Fright Night - A perfect balance of horror and comedy with great practical effects.
25. Evil Dead 2 - Evil Dead 1 on steroids with a sense of humor.
26. Candyman - Nothing says Halloween like "Sweets for the Sweet".
27. An American Werewolf in London - Horror, humor and the greatest werewolf transformation ever.
28. Army of Darkness - might as well wrap up the greatest trilogy ever made.
29. The Thing 1982 - Sci-fi doesn't feel like Halloween to me but I'll make an exception for the greatest movie ever made.
30. Halloween 3 Season of the Witch - I saw this at a way too impressionable age and this movie is Halloween to me.
31. Halloween 1978 - Can't be fucked with. Loomis is a G and Michael is pretty okay too.

House on Haunted Hill 1959 - List was lacking in the Vincent Price department but I didn't want to take anything off.

I have very little memory of it other than the bath scene, absolutely no idea how it ends, or how they become possessed etc.
But that bath scene!!! It's not really explicit, but one of them is well up for it while the other two kind of don't want to go full lesbian! It's hilarious though, and Linnea is in it, so I had to watch it

Gotcha. Isn't Michelle Bauer one of the other girls in that scene? I think I remember that much about it from reading about it in Fangoria or some other genre film magazine of the day.

I haven't watch any Russ Meyers since the 80's as a very 'energetic' kid!

Oh hell yeah, bro! I somehow got my hands on a VHS copy of SUPER VIXEN as a young man & spent entirely too much time watching the more salacious scenes while otherwise occupied. <45>

Night of the Demons- Discovered this movie a few years ago. Funny as hell and pretty scary at times

Changling is awesome isn't it? True slow burner haunted house movie, no bullshit, just straight chiller.
Alice Sweet Alice was one of the first slashers, it's pretty impressive considering the age like you said.
That fat dude in the apartment below them though...

Duel is another all time favorite, I fricking love that movie

man I have no recollection of that episode. I've been wanting to rewatch it all but I'm half way through Miami Vice at the moment, maybe X Files will come next

Just skip right to X-Cops it's a standalone episode it's perfect for some October/Halloween viewing.

Man I loved the fuck out of The Changeling. What a crazy story that I really enjoyed.

Also forgot to mention I watched Highway To Hell at the start of the month, it's one of my favorite movies it's so corny but it has so much charm about it I could literally watch the movie every single day and it would never get old.

Been trying to watch some horror movies I never knew about. Watched Eden Lake with Michael Fassbender a few days ago. Shows a whole new meaning to psychopathic teenagers.

I recommend everyone that likes horror to google "buzzfeed horror movie list 20XX" and just fill the year in..

I started at 2014s list and every movie is either decent or great. Lots of unknowns, lots of good foreign.

Midsommar was excellent. 8.4/10

I recommend a few horrors: Stephen King's Thinner, US, Suspiria (2019)
I am watching the remake if Suspiria now and love it. I thought the original is just ok.

Great List, I would add:
1. Prince of Darkness—John Carpenter, Donald Pleasance, Creepy church, Satan...
2. Damien The Omen—Original creepy kid flick
3. The Shining—Has to be on any scary movie list.
4. Scanners—what horror should be
5. The Conjuring—Great Haunted House Movie...very well done
6. Jeepers Creepers—So much fun, very cool creature
7. The Hills Have Eyes—Original and remake were good
8. Phantasm—The Tall Man!
9. Poltergeist 1&2–Scares with sfx
10. 28 Days—Badass
11. 40 Days of Night-Awesome setting

Time after Time is great, I remember being gutted watching it for the first time though as I thought it was straight up horror, but it's so much more. Really good movie.
Along the same lines, but waaaaay worse, but equally waaaaay more awesome...

fucking love that movie, I watched it again a few days ago

I really like the 1st and 2nd Omen movies, but I never enjoyed the third one. The little kid in number two is an awesome monster

Damn bro, I dig the enthusiasm!

2. Demons I love, gotta love Italian horror, those guys knocked out some belters
4. The Howling - great movie, all the sequels are woeful but I really like them all. My favorite werewolf movie after AWIL would be Wolfen, then Howling.
5. The Fog 1980 - awesome choice, even my wife loves this one
8. Monster Squad - all time great
10. Shaun of The Dead - yep, I tend to watch the Cornetto trilogy once a year
11. Evil Dead 1981 - I still struggle to remember the difference between the two movies, I can watch either and wait for something to happen and it never does, because it's in the other one.
I like the first best
13. Friday the 13th Part IV The Final Chapter - Love all of them, even the worst ones
17. Silver Bullet - another one I watched recently, Gary Busey is the best, and wee Corey actually had some pretty decent acting chops, great movie lacking any kind of wolf. But it has a priest, so it kinda still does!
20. Return of the Living Dead - absolute beauty
24. Fright Night - one of my all time favorites regardless of genre. Amazing soundtrack too
27. An American Werewolf in London - A perfect movie end to end, couldn't be better
30. Halloween 3 Season of the Witch - just watched it last night
31. Halloween 1978 - another top 10 all time regardless of genre

I've still never seen Highway to Hell, good call, I will dig it out

Jeepers Creepers is a really effective monster movie, the first half is so tense, truly great film making

I couldn't get on with the Conjuring though, too many jump scares caused by sudden loud music and not enough actual terror or tension for me

I haven't seen Scanners in years though, I need to get on that
