It's October... Halloween/Horror Movies

Figured you'd seen Urban Legend given your AV. LOL Rebecca Gayheart did her thing. I forgot Jared Leto was in that movie, too
Since I stumbled upon this gif accidentally and loved it, I've been meaning to give the film a watch. It's about time I've gotten to it!

Ftr I love shitty horror films, so you guys not singing the praises of these films gives me hope lol.

Motel Hell is fun, John Ratzenberger (Cliff from Cheers, Pixar's non-lamp based mascot) is one of the biker dudes who gets planted in the garden. It also has a sideways tie in to the Simpsons seeing as Rory Calhoun stars in it as the farmer/co-Motel owner and this Simpsons bit is the first time I recall hearing his name.

finally watched The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. what a frenetic balls-2-the-wall tongue-in-cheek campfest compared to the humble brilliance of its predecessor.

Tobe Hooper: “so you want a fuckin’ sequel?”

The opening scene with the two frat guys that run into Leatherface in the truck is one of my favorite scenes in any horror film. It has both great energy and the idea of driving on some lone country road at night and running into something like Leatherface (wearing Hitchhiker to boot) is creepy. It also has a great Oingo Boingo song perfect for Halloween time.

The funny thing is he thought he was making a comedy with the first one too, then everybody else was like hey not funny man.

I need to rewatch it, I really enjoyed the first half but for some reason not the rest, but no idea why.

Ever watch Farewell To The Flesh? Never did myself

Don't bother with the sequel, bro it's incoherent trash. There's some spliced in gratuitous nudity in a couple of spots & that's literally all I remember about it.

Watched a good one yesterday ‘wounds’ on Netflix

anyone seent it?

Yes, love Black Christmas, it's one of my favorites. A must watch each year and one of the original slaher movies.
Olivia Hussey is freaking gorgeous as well, and John Saxon is a horror movie staple, anything he's in is worth a look.
Apparently Black Christmas is one of Steve Martin's favorite movies

Have you & I discussed our mutual love for BLACK CHRISTMAS yet, bro? I can't recall. So bear with me if I repeat myself here but it's mandatory Christmas Eve viewing in my household & it has been for many years now. I consider BC to be an absolute classic of the genre. And, IMO Bob Clark was a mad genius. As evidenced by his almost equally as good DEAD OF NIGHT ( aka DEATH DREAM ) which he made in 1974 the same year as BC. Great stuff.

Has anybody here watched Motel Hell? I've liked that one since I was young, but I've never ran into anybody else that's seen it.

I recently rewatched May, love that one. And for the first time watched the new Rabid (beautifully shot, bleak ending, I enjoyed it), Mandy (that was a fun experience), and The Ritual (I was genuinely creeped out the first bit of it, but as I suspected it fell off for me when they revealed the threat and monster). Also watched Happy Death Day 2U, I loved the first, but idk if I can get behind this one. She got her dead mother back, but gave it up to be with a guy? Ehhhh. Having just lost somebody special to me, honestly, I can't relate. Also rewatched Sinister. I just love the 8mm camera clips, but I'm not sure if it was worth a rewatch. Normally on a second watch you'll catch new things, but Sinister is so simple there was none of that when I watched it again. There's nothing more to get.

I plan to watch Urban Legend and Thirteen Ghosts this year at some point. Maybe tonight.

OMG, a woman that likes MANDY?!! Be still my heart. If I weren't oh, so happily married I'd send you flowers just for having such good taste in movies! LOL.
Seriously though, I love that movie. I first saw it last November & I've watched it about six times since then. And, each time I've tried to get my wife to watch it with me she's fallen asleep during the languid first half hour or so. But, I forgive her as it is, after all, a rather acquired taste. Plus, she's a ginger so she's on the sensitive side & I fear that Mandy's fate might be a bit too much for her.
But, again. Kudos for your good taste in films.
MAY is an old favorite of mine as well & I'm totally jealous that you've gotten to see The Soska Sister's RABID remake. It sounds awesome & looks gruesome as hell.
Peace.

Yes, the Soska Sisters remade it. It even has CM Punk in it playing a douchebag which is great. He shouts at a woman that she's a "New Jersey 6" lmao. The lead is very beautiful, and the Soskas have a knack for taking gorgeous shots. I'd post some stills, but it had a very small and limited release, mostly just making its way through the horror festivals the past month or so.

May is good if you like a funny horror. I laugh a lot throughout that film, though it may just be because I'm painfully similar to May.

Lmao story of my life xx
It's the ones that aren't wierd we have to watch out for

No I don't think we've spoken about Black Christmas before, I love it, great horror and great christmas movie as well. I watch it every Christmas as well, but I rarely make to to Christmas Eve, and I have to watch When A Stranger Calls straight afterwards. Two of my all time favorites.
Dead Of Night I only watched for the first time last year, I'd heard about it but never got round to watching it. I think I have it as a double bill with Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things. Good little movie, Christopher Walken was considered to play Andy at one point, he would have been perfect, not that Richard Backus isn't great himself.
Bob Clark did some great movies, Murder By Decree, Porky's, Breaking Point, Christmas Story, dude was a mad genius alright!

Yeah, there's a limited edition Blu-ray available of DEAD OF NIGHT under its DEATH DREAM title that I have to but for my collection soon because it really is an excellent, though bleak, chiller. Just talking about it makes me want to watch it again. That's how impressed I was with it when I rented it late last year.

I've watched six movies in my life, so have little clue on movies. Are there any good Halloween movies that are set on Halloween night?

What are the six movies? Inquiring minds want to know

Halloween 1978 is the only Halloween movie that really matters

Not heard of it, what's it about? New one I take it?
It’s new, about a phone left at a bar with disturbing shit on it

I won’t spoil the plot, it was decent tho

watched it all the way through, most horror films lose me by the end of the second act

I have that problem with most modern horror movies, I'll give it a go, thanks

Most of them are just kids movies that I was forced to watched as a child, the rest are the first Harry Potter and one of the Purge films.
