This shit was a massive letdown.

The lady and I hated it after initially being pretty excited to go see it.

I love horror movies, and I thought part 1 was pretty solid.

Hader was good, there were some creepy sequences, but the rest of the movie was pretty damn awful.

Iffy acting, iffy dialogue, shitty voiceovers, bad pacing, not enough pennywise, the grown up Mike sucked, Professor X's American accent sucked, fully uncalled for progressive bullshit shoehorned in.

I boo'ed in the theatre during Beverly's domestic violence scene. That shit was wildly lame and served no purpose.

I am dissapoint. Much.

Don't care. I've got a copy on my shelf older than a lot of people I know.

Watch the movie and see how misplaced and awkward that scene is. The construction of the movie is poor.

Fair enough.. will do.

It was alright. Not great, not bad.

To me it actually went by fast - well the last act dragged a bit.

Needed more Pennywise IMO - the opening scene set a good tone then it just kind of went so-so at times.

This is a movie I'll watch once and not again (unless it is on tv for free and I'm bored as hell).

Not as good as the first, but I liked it. They nailed the casting. Should've gotten rid of the native American voodoo nonsense and focused more on the group chemistry and the scares.

Not as good as the first, but enjoyable. Despite the length, it felt kind of rushed. I wasnt a fan of all the arbitrary "rules" they placed, and ended up making the climax a letdown for me. I felt Skaarsgard was under utilized in this one. In the previous version there were scares but I felt like there were scenes where was able to give a bit of subtle layers to Pennywise being more than just a spooky clown. It felt like they might go somewhere with the whole circus angle but it just never materialized.

Hanlons only dialogue was pretty much just exhausting exposition.

These are all criticisms but there was stuff I liked as well. They nailed the scene with Adrian Melon. Bevs visit to her former apartment was fantastic. The running gag regarding Kings endings was great.

My biggestletdown

THe whole "Just believe hes a tiny clown and he becomes one" was awful. An interdimensional cosmic entity that can assume any form is undone by a group of people saying "Youre small".

Never got round to watch the first one, so had to watch that this weekend before going to see the new one in the cinema.

MY GOODNESS. What a garbage little film!!! It was more of a children's adventure movie....

Bet the same people fanboying these films are the ones loving the likes of Stranger Things. Weirdos.

I liked It.

My only gripe was the length.

That movie was a mess and like the first almost every scene feels rushed. I enjoyed a couple of parts but overall they don't buiild any tension or suspense. When they do? Better bring the audience back to reality with a joke.

Wasn't that basically the power of the Ritual of Chud in the book? It was a ritual of willpower and in the movie, they collectively had a stronger will than It and they willed it into a form where they could easily kill it

To be fair, the ending in the book was lame, too. King built this villain up to be this all-powerful, god-like being that could control what happens in this entire town, but he couldn't kill this group of kids/adults?

6/10

The 1st chapter was way better imo. I have never watched a movie that starred jessica chastain (looking through imdb confirms this). But from what i read, she's supposed to be a really good actress. And it felt like she didn't want to do this role. I could be wrong, but she didn't fit the part at least for me.

Besides pennywise, the rest of the cgi wasn't good imo.

I think the only way for a story like IT to work on screen is as a limited series.

Hilarious how in the first few minutes of the movie, the movie and Mr.King had to admit that everyone hated the second half of the original book/movie so much so, that they basically changed the entire second half of the movie just to try and please everyone..

I was sitting in the theater with the old lady and caught myself telling her, this didn't happen, that never happened so many times...

Basically part two did not follow anything from the original movie or book just to please the audience, shame on you Mr. King...

Also,

Amy Adams should have always played adult Beverly...

Fuck Off ITMeToo#!!!

Yeah, true.

As far as explaining the ending of the book. Good luck, lol. King wrote that when he had toilet paper shoved up both nostrils because they were hemorrhaging blood from all the cocaine. A fucking turtle with toenails made out of universes. Ok, thank you, Eight-Ball.

But it was something similar. In the book It manifested in a physical form not so much out of a battle of wills, but simply because their minds had to make it a physical entity or they'd go insane. Or something. Then the battle of wills was to prevent their minds from melting.

Dude...the first part changed almost everything too. These movies have been faithful in spirit but aren't direct adaptations at all. Very few of the scenes are actually from the novel.

The joke was about the ending, a long time criticism of much of Kings work, and not just the "second part".

During the scene where Richie thinks about his time at the arcade then running into Pennywise at the Paul Bunyon statue, did you stop and silently ask yourself "wait, was Richie supposed to be gay in the book?" After the movie, I had to look it up.

Honestly, while watching it I never caught any gay vibes. Maybe I'm a homophobe.
