America is sinking into a cesspool of immorality. The acceptance of homosexuality and homosexual marriage is just one sign. Western society is the outlier in thousands of years of human history including the West's own history. The acceptance of such perversion is a very recent development. Go back just 50 years and Americans understood that homosexuality is a perversion. As we slide into moral decay and cultural decline perversions will only increase.
That's the problem with ignorant people especially those on the left. They never quite realize their "freedoms" cause serious problems for the community at large. After winning the battle to normalize "free sex" meaning that sex before marriage is encouraged and celebrated they moved on to the celebration of homosexuality and now the want to celebrate the belief that there are no differences between men and women and you can be one or the other as you choose. One perversion to the next and now it is actually a legitimate argument to claim these "progressives" will be calling for the normalization of man-boy love. It is already starting and the most extreme of them are appearing in our farthest peripheral vision. See here as an example. The point of this, which I believe was on the first page of the New York Times earlier this month, is to bring the idea into the open. Over the next decade we will see it advance.

When Playboy was first published the "progressive" thinkers were all for it and the argument that it would quickly lead to more and more extreme forms of pornography was lost on them. However, if the people of that time, just a few decades ago, could see where it led they would have made a great effort to nip it in the bud back then. In the same way the "progressives" of this time push for gay marriage and transgenderism fail to realize pedophillia is next even if they are personally against it for now. The claim that pedophillia tramples anyone freedoms is based on the fact that as a society we understand that it is obscene in the extreme and we consider it child abuse. However, if the society begins to teach children that it is perfectly acceptable and loving thing to do children who engage in such "pedophillia" will not grow up feeling abused. They will say its normal and the "progressives" of that time will trot out happy children and young adults to prove their point. Sound far fetched? Just as far fetched as our present situation with the gays and trannies would sound to a soldier coming back to America after WWII. He would laugh and say, "impossible". A child growing up in a community of cannibals will feel that eating human flesh is normal while regular society is aghast and disgusted with the very thought of it. Homosexual marriage is in the same sort of category. A disgusting practise that our society accepts but that every other human society has been aghast and disgusted by throughout human history barring a few short lived experiments in decadent societies which were near their very end. As you say, "some people are sick and in need of help so they don't act on their impulses."
