Constant provocations over the years by assassinating key figures in their government probably isn't the greatest way to stop them. If anything, that accelerated the desire. The reason most countries have nukes isn't to deploy them, it's to use them as a big stick to avoid being attacked. Iran's biggest mistake, despite decades of claims from the outside saying they were going to have a nuke any minute, was to not have a fucking nuke. Perhaps that would have prevented them from being subjected to regime change. Looks a bit too late for that now.

North Korea, who has vowed to use them against us, probably has one but we haven't attacked, bombed, invaded or regime changed them.
