The last week since the Umar fight has revealed the truth about Team Khabib.

It's as Javier says, Khabib is by far the best.

When he praises Usman and Umar he's praising their potential and striking, but he knows Khabib is the most dominant where it counts in the grappling.

Any striker can get knocked out. Even Periera.

ahahahaah fuck you

Gotta believe man, gotta believe.

No, Khabib just ran away from his "Merab" or "Holly Holm." His entire career is a sham. None of his wins aged really well. Weight cheat, undisputed pull out king, can smasher and also a very bad coach. His low fight IQ was also evident when cornering an unprepared and overmatched Umar. His advice would be good if Umar was fighting a striker from a lower weight class.

Never.

He hasn't dominated Al Laquinta and he gonna dominate Volk?
dominated poirier and gaethje, 2 elite lightweights who are harder hitters than volk and gaethje has great takedown defense. The Al laquinta fight being your basis for khabib's skill where he still 50-44d him doesn't make much sense

Said it before but Khabib shouldn't be a benchmark for the other guys from the camp. That's unfair.
Islam should be the benchmark but he's far better than both Umar and Usman.. for now.

justin has great tdd? made Conor look like prime Aldo.

Khabib rarely fought and even as champion he was fighting once a year to end his career. Add up his total UFC fights and divide it by total years signed. He was inactive.

Putting that aside, he had a controversial decision with Tibau, never fought Tony who was the obvious other opponent in his generation of fighters and doesn't have a particularly notable strength of schedule. He took mid-level guys like Raging Al and Barboza to long, tedious decisions.

IMO Islam has the overall more impressive skill set and better strength of schedule. There is NO way he would go to 5 round decisions with guys as low caliber as Al and Barboza, and his striking is far more sophisticated.

Juiced Tibau never had green 23 year old Khabib hurt or in trouble for a second.

Islam was ko'ed by a journeyman and getting beaten up in the minors in some of his fights. If you watched all of their careers it's not even close.

Look at the Poireir fight. That's Khabib and Islam in their primes. Khabib subbed him in two rounds and Islam nearly died. Khabib manhandles Islam in sparring as well.

D1 wrestler and stuffed and outscrambled michael chandler whenever he shot, never got taken down by anyone else in the UFC or regional scene. Don't act like that's not extremely impressive to take down justin

d1 wrestler who doesn't like to wrestle. yeah so did will brooks.

justin wouldn't be competitive against usman at all.

If you watch justin's wrestling matches he was always a defensive wrestler who shut down his opponents offense. Doing that in a D1 level is insane. The usman who just got his calf beat up and failed to takedown hughes? And got fatigued quick? Justin would knock out Usman and Hughes in the same night

Justin used his d1 wrestling constantly according to Justin himself.

He uses it defensively like Chuck. Ever heard of sprawl and brawl?

Agreed. I said it was a controversial decision. Neither man was hurt or in any danger in that fight. Sort of the point, that Khabib couldn't even hurt someone at that level. I can run you a highlight reel of Tibau getting stomped by other fighters.

Islam has a single 'got caught' moment in his career, and that is fine.

If Khabib ever showed up to fight, he might have the same. I ask you to do this - go to his wikipedia page, count his total UFC fights and divide it by the years he was under contract. Its hard to lose when you rarely fight.

Look at the Poireir fight. That's Khabib and Islam in their primes.

Islam didn't get caught in a really tight guillotine he barely escaped. Khabib himself said as much, regarding the trouble he was in that moment.

In any event, Islam put away Poirer, and head kicked P4P Volk to sleep in the first round. He also has a reasonable activity level as champion, which Khabib demonstrably did not, that much isn't up to debate.

These last two weekend's performances had a lot more to do with the opponents being very good and less to do with the Nurmagamedov's not being as good as we thought. Umar gave Merab his hardest fight in years. It's not like he got steamrolled pillar to post.

Bah.. I remember Kahbib back when we called him Matt Hughes. One dimensional super-strong wrestlers are only great until they're not.
