Defending against LWs is better than FWs in theory, but fighters like Volk and Ilia are generational fighters and better than Charles/Dustin/Justin. These are facts. They will be higher ranked when it’s all said and done and will do more for his legacy.

I think Arman should be next but outside of that, there’s nobody at LW. If he stays there he should be open to fighting Ilia and should stop shitting on him and instead build up a potential fight.

Obviously the criticism "he only defends against FWs" had gotten to Islam.

I don't think it really has much to do with Ilia Topuria, he just happens to be a FW and the timing is such that Islam feels like taking ANOTHER defense against a FW gives fuel to that criticism and he doesn't want to feed that.

I agree but there are a few morons who keep complaining about Islam defending against a featherweight twice(volk) and act like it hurts his legacy even though volk did much better against islam than 2 top LWs(Charles, Dustin)

This is probably what lead to all this, not getting the #1 spot which was BS. But nonetheless, the FWs are bringing more to the table than a bunch of aging LWs.
