Media Islam Makhachev Says He Was OFFERED Leon Edwards UFC 300 But Turned It Down - Says Poirier IS Next

Islam made Oliveira give up and tap 12 times then signed to fight him again only for Oliveira to pull out but there are still weirdos on here claiming Islam is the one ducking lol. I don't even think Oliveira is ducking but if somebody is it's probably the one that pulled out.

This guy is nothing fighting because of money, he gets plenty of that oil money, when he fights in oil countries, and his fans are not the ones who buy PPV, they use the russian link.

But he did say that he would like to once fight at, MSG because it’s a legacy thing.
oil money... russian link... OK you are living in your own world. If he wanted oil money, he would have fought in Saudi Arabia in March for his flat purse and no PPV points. Out of curiosity, who are the champs in this world? BTW 299 was not in the MSG, the June PPV will not be in the MSG and the MSG is not that attractive to fighters that want to fight in low tax states to make more money

Islam is at the point where he's going to be a massive favorite over Dustin, Justin, Olivera. I'm just hoping he breaks the LW defense record, if Dustin has to be it then okay. Gaethje is most deserving right now to me.

Seems like you did not listen to his interview at all?

155lbs is one of the most mismanaged divisions in the sport

One illogical booking after the next.

Either Charles OR Tsarukyan could have gone next. Instead they are fighting each other in April, and Islam wants to fight this spring. Its almost written like a comedy, he's now going to fight a one-fight win streak Poirier coming off an unranked win instead.

JG and Holloway are fighting in a bout meaningless to both their divisions that likely sets both of their careers back considering the timing - all because the UFC is so cheap they couldn't secure other brand name bookings for UFC 300 they had to make up a nonsense fight.

Brutal.

JG already got SMOKED in two title shots just in his last 5 fights. Beating Poirier is cool but not what it once meant.

Do Bronx has won 12 of his last 13 fights, defended the belt multiple times, and was matched up with the #1 contender who he put away spectacularly - a guy on an 8 fight win streak that deserved a title shot himself.

Now if Charles also wins his next fight, it would be crazy to say he's not the #1 contender comparing with JG. This was all really bad match making by U Fight Cheap.

If both Oliviera and Gaethje win, i'd opt to fight Justin.

I know he'd deserve it, but does anyone really wanna see ANOTHER rematch on Islam's record again?

Yes, because Justin sucks at grappling and I don't need to watch him get submitted for the third time in a title fight.

He both doesn't deserve it, has already had two failed title shots and doesn't present an interesting matchup for Islam's skillset.

Well the thing is that we know for a fact that Oliviera since they fought already where the fight wasnt even that close ending in 2 rounds. They fight again it'll just fuel the "he hasn't fought anybody" narrative.

It will be a new challenge at least in name and on his resume. 155 TItle vs BMF title would definitely sell too.

Kicking a ball around is far different than getting into a grappling and fist fight with another man especially for 5 rounds.
Belal i think is the only muslim fighter to fight during it and he's doing it probably out of desperation to get the title since he isnt afforded many opprotunities.

Khamzat did once, against Burns and said that he would never do it again.

I get your point but Justin is not a title threat. He got SMOKED in two title shots, just in his last 5 fights.

Setting aside that Do Bronx literally put away both Justin and Poirier (and nearly everyone else he's fought for a dogs life) I think history would be better for this rematch.

History demands the two best fight, and if Charles wins his next bout, there is no calling Justin the best.

Honestly either would be okay with me, neither Oliviera or Gaethje have ever put out a boring fight.
For legacy and resume however, Gaethje would definitely put it over the top just to change the pace from rematches.

Best case scenario would probably be Arman winning in terms of actual fight vs Islam as i think he's the hardest challenge in the top 5.
Which makes the UFC matchmaking dumb for putting them all in fights they probably wont come out unscath.

Islam already smoked Charles
Time for new challenges
New challenges = lesser opponents? Islam needs to go up 2-0 over Charles to cement his legacy. Charles is beating all the guys Islam should have been defending against, while Islam is craving to fight some FWs and hot sauciers. DC, Usman, and many more examples show the first fight going vastly different than the next 2. Should Matt Serra have ducked GSP for the rest of his career bc of some stupid ass weak loser mentality like this take by you?

<DisgustingHHH>

Porier is a big name and an easy fight for Mach.

Makes sense for him, but I'm not excited / pumped for that fight. Honestly I'd rather see the Oliveira rematch, he has a better chance in my opinion.

just saw the video, apparently ramadan interfere with the edwards fight, islam does want it but it's not possible.
