Or declare a no fly zone for syrian air force to protect civilians which unlese the russians finaly agree to co ordinate is effectively a no flybzone for them

The moderates are as obedient as well trained poodles...we have told the southern front to sit back and sit they have.
The further 'jihadi' u go the less dependent and co operative though with nursra for example now self sufficent.

You dont simple declare a no-fly zone, you need to actually secure the zone, as in you would need to take down the Russian SAMs.

Otherwise the Russians will just fly wherever they please, just like the US does in Chinese no-fly zones.

Not when that equipment is rare and in dire need ,the fsa teams with tows for example are now forced to film each strike and bring back the used casings before being given more.

There is no weaker positions when it comes to MAD, so unless the USA has an effective missile defense opposing Russia directly is just as suicidal for the USA than it is for Russia.

As to whether you think that you can wage a war between countries with extensive first and second strike capabilities without them resorting to escalation of conflict when they are losing, well thats something that we really dont know.

And we dont know because in the decades of history we never saw such powers facing each other directly, not in Vietnam, not in Afghanistan, nowhere at all.

Su 25 were operated some time ago but they were withdrawn when Russia brought back lions share of its AF's back to Russia, they are built to withstand a MANPAD's or OSA/TOR class missiles. Couple of day's ago a video appeared with SU 25's so they are back.
