Is Vince Vaughn supposed to be funny?

TS puts ketchup on his steaks. Now that is hilarious.

Hit and miss for me depending on role.

White people typically find him funny

I dig him. If you listen to the rants he drops a lot of knowledge.

he's growns up and he's growns up and he's growns up.

i can't stand him anymore. like someone else said, he was good and Swingers, and he's fucking hilarious in Made.

He's funny in a supporting humour or regular, nice guy in a funny plot type movie. Like Dodgeball was hilarious but primarily to do with Stiller's character. Vaugn's character was the one you were sort of rooting for because he was just sort of everyday guy. Same type of character as the main dude in Office Space. They're not characters that are all that funny in and of themselves.

Same more or less guy in Old School and Wedding Crashers (more or less).

He used to be funny and a fantastic actor. Then he sold out and spent the money on booze. Now he's really neither.

But go back and watch some of his old indies, for perspective on how he used to be. Check out Clay Pigeons for dramatic acting and Made for comedy.

In Clay Pigeons he plays a charming, country, southern serial killer whose real personality comes out when he loses his temper. He turned it on and off on a dime. "THAT BITCH GOT ME SO FUCKING PISSED OFF....(calmly) usually I'm really clean about it all." Should have gotten a best supporting actor nod for it.

For comedy, check out Made. It's the unofficial sequel to Swingers. He plays somewhat of a different character though. He's an ironically confident but aloof putz. He's not that dissimilar from Larry David in curb. A lot of quick improv, fixating on minutiae, and interesting ways of observing and phrasing things.

Here was a good scene from that movie:

Another reason I used to like watching him was he seemingly had no shame. It's uncomfortable to watch uncomfortable people. Now he's seemingly one of those uncomfortable people. He was cringe-worthy in Delivery Man and in some of his more recent stuff.

I'm kind of interested to see him in True Detective to find out whether he still at least has some of the dramatic acting ability in him. That's a part with actual substance he was offered and has taken recently.

He is in movies with funny plots. I dont think his talking fast thing is supposed to be funny.

There are a lot of typecast "comedy" actors who really aren't funny anymore, that I would like to see play angry, aggressive or psycho killer types in dramas, thrillers or horrors. I think for a lot of them it would be a good career move to do once or twice, and then maybe springboard from that to take all kinds of varied roles.

Of course I really only had the idea from that time David Schwimmer wanted to do it on Entourage but you know...

hes a great complement to other actors like the wilson bros (old school, wedding crashers, the internship), will ferrell (old school, anchorman), & ben stiller (the watch, dodgeball, zoolander)

Got sick of him 10 years ago. Although I am anticipating seeing him as the villain in the upcoming season of True Detective. I always thought Mcconaghey was a tool until his part in that show so maybe Vaugn will reddem himself.

I mean he was the killer in Domestic Disturbance.

He just needs to get back to doing projects with substance, like the indie movies he did, again. True Detective is a start.

Normally a pretty mediocre performer, but he's great in the Psycho remake.
