Is there a path back to gold for DDP?

If we all can agree on one simple thing, it's that as long as Khamzat stays healthy and motivated, not DDP or anyone else we currently know of will touch the 185 strap, fair?

OK, good.

Now DDP made a lot about how for him, it's not the money and it's all about the belt. If he really means this, I have some free advice to give him a legit shot at recapturing gold.

Good luck in your future endeavors, Stillknocks.

His wrestling/BJJ is just not good enough for the highest levels of competition. He can get gold in possibly one of the kickboxing promotions with a shallow talent pool.

He needs to spend a year away working on wrestling, grappling and BJJ. He's still young enough to where he can burn a year or even 18 months spending time to improve and come back better than ever.

His best attribute is he is really determined, he has a lot of determination which is vital in fighting sports, so yes he can but I think he needs to have some new trainers, he is too sloppy, even in all his wins its just a sloppy mess. I know people will say he won those fights so nothing to fix, but I felt like he won because he has a really good chin and he can take it, plus he never quits and keeps going and is determined, but he was still getting hit flush a lot in those wins, he just lunges way too much and its not coordinated.

I really think he can improve with a much better team, because he has lots of great essentials like an excellent chin, and he can take lots of punishment and won't quit and give up, plus he has some good power.

Yes. I still think he can beat anyone not named Khamzat. He just needs to keep that no-quit attitude that saw him actually have a chance to win in Round 5 vs Khamzat.

I also think Khamzat isn't likely to change recent history. I still see him fighting once a year and pulling out of fights. So DDP will likely get a shot at an interim title without fighting Khamzat in the near future. At that point, he gets his rematch with him Khamzat. In the meantime, he should forget about BJJ and try to focus on wrestling defense only.

If he would go train with Khabibs crew and put the work in. Other than that..nope.

Just keep yourself in shape and wait for Khamzat to pull out of his next fight.

The odds are not terrible for that.

Truthfully, I can see Khamzat pulling either a Khabib or Islam, as in retiring relatively young or moving up another class to avoid the impact the big weight cuts have on the body.

Completely re-think his defensive grappling game, which he seems to already be doing acknowledging that they're going to travel for it and make big changes. Then beat a few contenders in his goofy exciting fashion. After that, plenty of people will want to see him in a title fight again. Also, it's no guarentee that khamzat will even be champ by the time DDP is in that discussion again.

He already moved up a weight class. He was a WW. So he did that already.

Likely either slap dangal or new pandemic

DDP doesn't strike me as complacent or hopeless.

He will work harder and any man under the sun can improve himself.

So no he has absolutely zero chance at ever beating Khamzat.

dricus got exposed, fluffy, rdr all win against him.

Will he not be gifted an unearned rematch like everyone else

Im pretty sure a guy who was a multiple time defending champ in his prime can still make it back.
