Is Tatiana Suarez Overrated?

My bad. You're right. It was EndlessCritic who said that. I just checked. He said: "I don't think Carla shot a single takedown against Torres. She dominated her on the feet." I assumed it was you who said that because I thought it was just you and I who were talking about that fight. My bad.

It's not irrelevant; if a wrestler shoots for 10 takedowns and doesn't get them, it says a lot. Especially when they can't do any damage to their opponent on the ground. I think Carla is a good wrestler, but I've never seen her struggle so much to get the fight to the ground in a fight.

If a good wrestler can get Tecia to the ground then yes, but I only mentioned that because you said Carla is stronger than Tecia because she outgrappled her.

Carla is faster than Tatiana and Tecia stuffed 10 of her takedown attempts. It sounds like your underestimating Tecia; she doesn't stand in one place and let her opponents take her down easily. If she fought Tatiana, she would move a lot and use her speed to avoid Tatiana's takedown attempts. I'm not saying she'll win, but she would be a tougher fight for Tatiana than Carla was, in my opinion..

It's completely irrelevant because the best wrestlers in mma shoot just as many takedowns. Askren, Khabib, Cain, etc. Usman did the same thing just this weekend and now he's champ. I don't think you fully realize their strategy. They are playing the long game.

Her speed didn't help her against Andrade, who is one of the slowest fighters in the division, or in her last fight against Zhang. The issue is she has no power in her hands and isn't a threat on the feet. Opponents can just pressure her and she can't get their respect. Esparza didn't really use speed or timing to take her down, it was all constant pressure.

Usman didn't just use his wrestling to beat Woodley though; he held him by the cage, which wore Tyron's arms out and Usman was hitting Woodley with an abundance of shots to the body by the cage. I know what your saying, but even when Carla managed to get Tecia down after failing over 10 times, she couldn't do anything. Tecia has never been finished, so I'm not surprised.

Tecia's speed did help her against Andrade and Andrade is one of the slowest fighters in the division, but so is Tatiana. Andrade struggled to get a hold of Tecia because Tecia was constantly moving and you're wrong about Tecia having no power. She rocked Andrade a few times; she knocked Rose down with a punch and when they were in the pocket, she rocked Joanna, which is why Joanna immediately went for the clinch.

Also, Tatiana struggled to take Viviana Pereira, who is a small fighter and she was getting hit a lot when the fight was standing. She actually reached out with both of her hands when she was trying to grab Viviana and that's when Viviana started tagging her. Viviana almost subbed Tatiana with a Guillotine choke; she had it deep, too.

Viviana and Tecia are small, but they're both physically strong; that's why Tatiana couldn't finish Viviana. Carla is small and she's not physically strong, which is why Tatiana mauled her.

However, I feel like she's being hyped up because she destroyed Carla Esparza. Carla's good, but I think stylistically, that was an easy fight for Tatiana. It was basically like a small wrestler vs huge world champion wrestler.

Carla was able to get up several times and she's pretty small for the division.

I think Tatiana would struggle against people like Joanna, Rose and Tecia; they're hard to take down, they're fast and they're good strikers.

Also, I think Tatiana's stamina is questionable. She's always dominating her opponents; I wonder how she'd react if she got taken into deep water.

She certainly looked like a killer in that fight and a lot of people see her fighting for the title soon. How many opponents have a good enough take down defense that could box her up?

I think Tecia, Rose, Andrade and Joanna are the only ones who could defend Tatiana's takedowns and do damage to her on the feet. The only one I'm not too sure about is Tecia.
 
Suarez looks better everytime she fights. Tecia was getting taken down by head and arm throws in her last fight. Suarez would maul that poor girl.

I'm not sure about her being overrated, but I was right about her cardio.
