Is Tatiana Suarez Overrated?

Considering Weili Zhang took Tecia Torres down repeatedly two days ago, Suarez would have an easier time doing so than she did against Carla Esparza. Now, Torres is better off her back than Carla, so she might survive to a decision, but that's a very easy fight for Suarez.

Joanna's takedown defense, while good, is also overstated. Claudia Gadelha continually took her down, even in their rematch, for the first 2 rounds before tiring. Shevchenko was taking her down at will. Plus Joanna probably isn't making 115 pounds again thanks to her boob job.

The only two strawweights that Suarez wouldn't be a considerable favorite against are Rose and Jessica Andrade. Maybe Zhang too if she continues improving.

Esparza is physically strong as well. It's silly to dismiss her as a "small wrestler." Tecia is even smaller, with worse wrestling.

Also Rose haven't even fought a wrestler since Esparza dominated her. There is no evidence her takedown defense is any better.

You are dreaming. Khabib is 27-0 and beat the man. Tatiana should be top 4 behind Rose , Andrade and JJ. Her only top 10 opponent was a past prime Estrada. I think Andrade is the best in the division currently and Khabib is the best (or Beast) in his. Tatiana shows massive promise though.

It wasn't easy for Zhang to take Tecia down because of Tecia's speed; she couldn't grab a hold of her and Zhang is a lot faster than Tatiana. I think you could be right though; I could see Tatiana beating Tecia easily if she got her to the ground but I don't think it would be as easy as when she fought Carla.

Joanna's defensive wrestling is very good. It's not easy to take her down and if you do take her down, she gets right back up. Valentina is very strong and fought at 135; she couldn't keep Joanna down and she couldn't do much damage to her on the ground.

I would love to see Zhang Vs Tatiana. Hopefully that fight happens soon.

I didn't use the term duck, I said she turned down Calvillo's call out, which is a fact.

Tati wants to fight someone higher than her in the rankings which is understandable. Andrade is fighting the champ, Joanna is taking a well deserved break after 10 fights including 9 title bouts in less than four years. It's ridiculous to say the division is full of "chicken shits" when Suarez herself doesn't want to fight lower ranked girls.

I wouldn't call Carla physically strong and I only called her a small wrestler because she and Tatiana are both primarily wrestlers.

You could be right about Rose; she hasn't fought a wrestler in a long time, but she is going to fight Andrade so we'll see how she does in that fight.

I remember Carla was panic wrestling in that fight. Tecia's speed caused a lot of problems for her. I haven't watched that fight in a while; I've definitely got to watch it again.

Some fighters just have it when you see it. In wmma. Valentina and nunes come to mind. You can literally see and feel

Not overrated at all. I didn't need to see the Esparza fight to tell she is a champion. It just seems like if Andrade can't beat her no one else will get even close.

I hope you're right bro. She's one of my favorites, but she hasn't fought anyone who has the skills to present a challenge for her. I hope they give her a top 5 fighter soon and she proves me wrong.

Octagon is always pretty dry so she will be alright.

I don't think Carla shot a single takedown against Torres. She dominated her on the feet.

Well she's supposed to fight Nina if you count that as being top 5 now, but I view her as a Derek Lewis type who stumbled her way to a high rank with low skill so I'm expecting a lamb to be slaughtered without telling us anything.
