Is Steven Seagal legit?

How many of you doubters have been Under Siege?

Why do people always use MMA as if everybody wants to compete in that?
You think the skills used in Aikido are going to translate to any real world application, or against somebody trained in a plethora of other arts? Come on bro.

Your defence of Aikido is outlandish.

Prince Charles does it better

He's a fat old man with a long standing reputation for being an asshole on set, being overly rough with stuntmen because he's insecure and being creepy with young women. It's kind of lame that certain fighters encourage him because they think it's cute or funny in an ironic way.

Also: Akido is bullshit and only works when you're doing displays with people who are cooperating with you.

Hes legit in doing techniques that would not help you getting beaten up against a real fighter.

That's why they also include strikes to soften the guy up and then tweak the wrist.

Try it. IF he gets a hold of your wrist, you have to go along. The argument is that he wont reach it, but if he does, it either breaks or you follow

I have tried it. My first mma coach was a decorated aikido instructor before he took up bjj and May Thai in the late 80s. He used to show us moves and we would piss ourselves laughing at how easy they were to get out of and avoid. Not once did i ever do a front flip. And he was high level 'legit'.

Aikido has been around for so long, yet if you Google or YouTube aikido Street fight, or aikido real sparring you get nothing. Aikido died the day youtube was born.

Show me a real filmed street fight where someone gets front flipped a full 360 by the wrist.

Could he handle untrained average Joes? Likely, quite easily I’d imagine.

Could he handle street fighters in a self defense situation? Possibly, especially when he was younger and fitter.

Could he handle trained professional fighters or serious combat athletes? Most unlikely, in his younger days and even more so in his present condition.

Is he full of it about his stories in special forces / secret fights / mafia / etc? Certainly!

Is he a creep around the ladies? Allegedly so.

Can he dance? He’s on the all time podium with JCVD and Khabib’s father (somebody better than me at the interweb please post gifs / videos).

You are so wrong.

What makes you think that a person who never had one pro fight and who practiced an art without full contact free sparring could beat people who are professionals?

It would be like assuming that if you play tennis matches at the local club and have some impressive shots against random friendly partners (and then became an actor and made movies about tennis ;)) you could show up at Wimbledon and beat ATP athletes ... makes no sense, no logic to it.

We never saw Segal in a real fight with a real fighter, thus exactly for that reason - he never had one nor trained that way - the only logical assumption is that he likely wouldn’t have a chance.

There were challenge matches when Aikido was founded, and the Aikido team beat Judokas.

2:09 he flips the guy over with a joint tweak exactly

Hahahaha he grabs and throws the drunk guy down to the side and he rolls over. Not the same thing as a guy front flipping in the air from being touched like in the. 1000s of aikido sparring and training videos.

Send me a couple more...

Next you'll be sending me that famous one aikido guys always use, of the cop in a yellow shirt pushing over a drunk guy by the neck lol

So some non pro fighters in a non striking art allegedly (where are the videos?) beat some other non pro fighters in a non striking art ... it exactly proves my point ... badminton amateurs who you think could show up at Wimbledon and beat tennis professionals, simply makes no sense.
