Not a psycopath, more like autistic.
 
If they are obviously immoral people like Colby or Jon Jones they are not sociopaths. Sociopaths are expert liars on a level that most people can't comprehend. A perfect example is Gerry Sandusky who ran a kids charity, coached with Joe Paterno, and was a hero to everyone in PA (except the boys he was raping) well into old age.

Guys, in the interest of making sure we all have the best information and are on the same page, I think you guys actually have the terminology exactly backwards.

Per webmd (and the other sources I've seen corroborate this):

'Cold-Hearted Psychopath, Hot-Headed Sociopath'

It’s not easy to spot a psychopath. They can be intelligent, charming, and good at mimicking emotions. They may pretend to be interested in you, but in reality, they probably don’t care.

“They’re skilled actors whose sole mission is to manipulate people for personal gain,” Tompkins says.

Sociopaths are less able to play along. They make it plain that they’re not interested in anyone but themselves. They often blame others and have excuses for their behavior.

Some experts see sociopaths as “hot-headed.” They act without thinking how others will be affected.​

So hard to tell, even under the best of circumstances. Add to that the fact that with these guys you never know what's real and what's an act and it's pretty much impossible to even begin to guess.

But even if I concede that Tyson (who I'm not a fan of, BTW) is indeed a psychopath (which I don't really believe just based on working with kids who remind me of him... and also working with some kids who I'm pretty certain are psychopaths), the fact that he lost Atlas as a trainer, and kept Cus only because of his skill as a boxer (suggesting that if he wasn't destined to be a world champion he'd likely have been left in the lurch), still more or less shows that being a psychopath is detrimental to a successful fighting career.

I give you the second point. No doubt they would be easier to work with for trainers if they weren't psychopaths. But at the same time I think being psychopathic in fighting will not limit you too much from having the best trainers (if you're talented) because fight trainers, perhaps more than coaches in any other sport, have learned to work around and overlook bad character flaws in their charges.

@elwani I have many years of experience dealing with this. I'd rather not go into details. Just read "the sociopath next door" or "People of the Lie". These are people who spent years studying evil people and came away with the same conclusions as me.

Close, Ford gave his input and said he’d shoot the guy if he was in Jones’s position. The stunt guy was not happy at all, because it was to be a big choreographed scene.

I think you've watched too many movies. Business is tough, but in this day and age you don't need to fuck people over to be successful. That being said, being a psycopath can be useful in some situations since you don't have to struggle with long-lasting emotions like depression and insecurity.
 
You dont have to necessarily be a psychopath to figure some of this stuff out. There is immense pressure on refs to not take points away from fightesr. You should absolutely push the limits there and try to get advantages. It's not illegal. The mob doesn't like point deductions and refs feel the pressure. It's real. Get at least a couple fence grabs/eye pokes in and pretend it was a mistake. Jones has never been reprimanded with a point deduction. We just talk about it a lot but there are no consequences, unless you buckle to criticism for some reason.

Psychopaths are definitely better at worrying less (or not at all) about society's viewpoints on certain actions and focus more on what they can get away with by assessing the situation. In that way, I sound like one here. But, its just simple strategy based on how others act. Point deductions will always been ref scrutiny.

Not saying that this is what you claimed, but important point to be made here:

The idea that most psychopaths are high functioning and successful has been debunked. Many lead ordinary lives, many get caught for all types of criminal offences and incarcerated. Psychopathy is not a superpower. It is not even linked to higher intelligence.
