Is Paddy still a star around here?

Shit performance against Gordon, plus getting 10-7ed by Ariel, and being hurt/not doing press has led to his unpopularity.

Becoming apparent to me that you dont badmouth Ariel

Is he a contender and will he be back?

I've never thought of him as a star at all, just another prospect that has some fan support from his home country. He has a lot to prove still. Don't see him being in the top 5 at all with the way he puts on weight from eating crap & then cutting weight. Doesn't seem like a professional way to do things. He should open up a beef paddy van with meatball molly. Both meatheads. Less CTE that way, too...

I hate them both.

<Fedor23>

I get you.
Paddy can be very cringe but he isn't unhealthy in a sense, he is a kid just having fun and being himself.
Ariel is dislikeable af though, the dude is fucking toxic and unhealthy af for the sport.

Him being Dana's lackey lapdog + then pretending like he won that fight is too much for me. Dude's gonna have to get 10 first rd finishes in a row to make up for it.

your opinion is no longer a popular one it used to be tho i remember coming here and seeing this opinion all the time

its totally apparent to me that ariel turned a major corner somewhere, likely very recently.

he is the go to interview after every major card. dana tried to squash him but it didnt work. talking negatively about ariel now puts you in the doghouse.

I agree, Paddy is naïve and obnoxious while Ariel is scummy and manipulative. They can both shit in their hats.

A loyal fan stays loyal. I'll always root for him, even if his army of hatred grows. The truth is we have a bad rap, 'cause MMA is full of fairweather fans. Lots of mma fans legitimately watch the sport to see people get hurt. Which is disgusting.

It takes a real solid contender to even have a good heart in a sport like this. A real martial artist is respectful. (Volk even said that recently) So while I used to wanna think most of us have taken classes, I've seen too much hate to believe that to be the case. I can say for sure that less than 40% of us train. A real martial artist that embraces the lifestyle acts like a Demian Maia.

Paddy should be a star still but he expresses himself too much to be loved by a typical mma fan. 'Cause most love to hate [wolves...] everybody that's a little different. (like Pena, Masvidal, Paddy and most champions)

I don't really get the whole mental awareness gimmick he's doing. In one breath he wants people to not bully others and in the next moment he's calling Topuria a mongrel and saying some xenophobic shit to Mokaev. Dude is scum and got figured out quick. He should embrace being hated since many want to see him get starched.

Mmm, that last fight was a wake up call. His next fight could be hype derailing / career stunting, so I’m sure he and the UFC are being careful.

People literally hate paddy because he had a negative opinion on the chosen one, areola helwani. Unbelievable.
This 100%. Shows you total nerds now are the majority of the fanbase. All because he didn't want to go on Ariel, because he knows how these clicks/views/ratings work, and how that translates into $$$$. Yet Paddy is supposed to bow down and cut other things because of Ariel's great personality? And the time that is just so enjoyable and great? For free? I could care less, and I am glad that Paddy spoke up and said something.

Hate for him isn’t weasel related.

it has more to do with the special treatment he gets from ufc and how the judges saved him
