Is It Time for the UFC to Move On from Joe Rogan?

Does it count as selling out if literally nothing changes about the podcast?

I think what a lot of people might mean is he criticized google

I don't use the term 'hater', because thats a millennial douchebag term used by someone who doesn't want any form of criticism, and who is so brainwashed by certain shit cultures, keeping them safe inside a bubble of delusion and entitlement. BUT, Rogan 'haters', (it's justified in this sense), really just can't appreciate the body of work this guy has given the UFC and you as a consumer of their product. Probably the most educated, the most fair (yes people, he has a job to do , and UFC tells him to push certain products/fighters, theyre a business), the most insightful, and the most entertaining commentator to ever do it, granted he and Goldig were the dream team, like working with a slightly more educated Tito. The man will be surely missed, a part of UFC history/ royalty. Youre LUCKY you get to still listen to this man do his job. Becuase who will they get?? Another Jon Anik shill, yesman, cuckhold? Anik is ok, but he is NO Rogan. Paul fucking Felder (non fighter bashing, but he's one step away from bottom of the barrel Dan Hardy)? If you really want nonsensical talking heads like other major sports, who are actually biased just for the sake of keeping the sport psuedo relevant, which ultimately just keeps 'fans'/ consumers just interested enough to keep buying the products making the bigs guys $$$$, then that is what you are going to get. Keeping it safe, keeping it stupid, keeping it another watered down product, just like the shit watered down budlight you probably are drinking right now. CHeers assholes.
I ain't reading all that shit fool

If I worked at WME there is no way I would want Joe to leave

for reasons I don’t understand, Rogan is an insanely popular podcaster. Spotify just paid him a couple of hundred million to talk on their platform

The guy has his own large & loyal audience

Why would I want to remove somebody like that from my sports entertainment product?

The amount of whining and sniveling in this thread is cringe inducing. Rogan's alright, knows his mma, knows a lot about most of the fighters, and loves martial arts. He's a fine commentator, and a legend in the UFC. Everyone here getting all identity politics and micro-analyzing his life and bashing his enthusiasm and style (which has been pretty much the same for almost a decade now) just sounds like they're jumping on the hate bandwagon because it's a slow news day.

To the point that others have made, Rogan is the last one you're going to get who is not a 100% scripted bot. Joe is a company man to the extent that he is friends with Dana, but he has enough money' where he doesnt need to play ball and make nice. He can speak his mind. Often it's wrong. But it at least feels authentic.

Nailed-it. I swear it's a trend, like LUGS (lesbians until graduation). Good, and I suspect accurate, insight.

Almost a decade?

FFS, no, it's not time. Stop making these threads.
The guy did the UFC a great service in the early stages, he is knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and entertaining. Sometimes it leads him to make bad calls but that's part of the job and at least it keeps us guessing. Otherwise, he is a great professional, his chemistry with most comentators and fighters is pretty much second to none - him and DC are a lot of fun together, btw; hell, maybe even throw in there Anik too - and I actually feel the UFC doesn't feel the same without him and/or Buffer.

The only UFC commentator that I dislike listening to is Cruz... Rogan is sometimes biased but I can form my own opinions on what I am watching so it doesn't really influence me. Anik/Rogan/DC is the best combination IMO. It is funny and entertaining which is what I think is important. I already know whats happening by watching the fight so a little entertainment to listen to while the fight happens helps a lot. I also really appreciate the amount of enthusiasm and passion he brings.

I dont really understand what some of you are expecting from a play by play or colour commentator? What are you hoping to hear them say?

Also all of this is coming from someone who used to listen to almost every podcast of his but I cant listen to his JRE anymore... The fact that Joe thought the Chris Cuomo dumbell was real is too idiotic and then I recently heard him say Logan Paul has a real shot at beating Mayweather because he is big and athletic. Either you are a complete moron or you're trolling your entire fan base... Either way I cant listen to JRE anymore.

I originally thought he couldn't be replaced but now that he hasn't been around much I don't miss him. As much of a fan as he is, his commentary has a certain lack of enthusiasm despite getting excited. The way he'll call a fight when a fighter gets hurt sounds like he thinks he already knows what's gonna happen. Actually, half the commentary crew like to call fights at the first sign of a fighter being hurt. Or they like to say something hurt the fight even before the attacker pulls their arm back.

I honestly don't care who's commentating. I just don't want the commentator to be brain dead ( Cruz during Khabib- Conor fight)
I used to like Cruz but man I can't stand him anymore. Him during the Silva-Izzy fight was just... depressing to listen to

while joe provides a lot of excitement during the commentary, with the influx of fighters becoming commentators, you're really beginning to see joe's shortcomings as a commentator. it's because he has never fought, that he's unable to provide genuine commentary of what the fighters are going through at that moment, unlike with the fighters. you can really see it when cruz and rogan commentate together. i always feel like cruz is biting his tough from lashing out at rogan at times lol.

Yes. At this point, it wouldn't even be that jarring to see him go because he only commentates on the major UFC cards held in the States.

He doesn't even do event prep anymore for these fights and just shows up wasted to yap with DC for a few hours. The amount of stuff that he gets wrong is ridiculous. He's always saying shit like "we've never seen x, y or z happen" when it has happened, and usually in the recent past. I loved seeing Holland correct him about Niko Price getting a finish with punches from his back.

I don't expect Rogan to remember all of this shit given the sheer number of fights that he's watched, but I do expect him to put in at least some effort to inform the audience about what's going on.

He has become a caricature of himself, yelling catchphrases and being extremely over the top.

He seems to be given a list of fighters to root for, regardless of the reality of the fight (it may be his personal bias). If he ever was unbiased, he isn’t anymore.

He doesn’t need the money and at this point I don’t think the UFC needs his name or familiar face, and his performance doesn’t justify his hefty paycheck, which seems to be a big factor in current UFC HR decisions.

He's got too much other shit going on to do his commentary work well.

Plus he looks and sounds likes he's been on.drug and drinks binge hours before his UFC 'commentaty'

DC and Bispimg were far superior to what Rogan can achieve this weekend gone. Time to move on.

It's the other way around. It's entirely up to Joe whether he wants to do color commentary anymore. He's been talking for years about walking away. He's cut back his workload by a lot already. I think for the near future at least, Joe enjoys watching the fights live and the guys he works with. He doesn't have the time or effort to put maximum effort into it. Podcast is his top priority right now and accounts for almost all of his income.
