Is it Possible?--Bellator & WSOF to put on a Co-promoted Event

Wsof is only doing this so people could have a chance to know they even exist. Bellator biggest rating show is more than all wsof ratings combined.

Wsof is another legacy just way better talent. Their attendance and ratings suck ass

But I thought WSOF was secretly owned by Zuffa according to Sherdog?

I never did believe that article, but I do however believe zuffa helps them financially. Kind of like how vince always financially supported his competition.

Doubt it. Remember Scott Coker ducked Bjorn and Alvarez when he was running Strikeforce(before Zuffa)

Scott Coker/Strikeforce was always up for co-promoting or fighter-lending, fighter-borrowing.

Don't know the details about the Melendez-Alvarez thing never working out, but it's doubtful that it was for a lack of trying.

Interesting how over time, it went from:

SF/Bellator

to:
Bellator/WSOF

to:
WSOF/RFA

to:
RFA/MFC

It's like the possibilities keep getting less and less interesting... what's next? MFC and whatever's left of KOTC?

Sefo and Coker have history working together, so I am very hopeful...

If WSoF does a good job building their new championships this year, they would make for a great cross-promotion PPV once Bellator gets these Rampage/Alvarez/Tito PPVs out of the way...

I would love to see the matches provided.

I think Coker and Sefo would be very good going for the whole "Superbowl/World Championships of MMA". Make it something done every 2 years with a 2 big PPVs featuring most champions...

Yeah, maybe, but there have been times when that did happen...
EliteXC said yes to Strikeforce
EliteXC said yes to K-1 (or the other way around)
Strikeforce said yes to M-1 Global
Strikeforce said yes to DREAM

EliteXC did not say yes to Strikeforce voluntarily. They lost a lawsuit to Strikeforce because they poached Frank Shamrock, and they reached an out-of-court settlement where they could still use Shamrock but had to allow Strikeforce to piggyback on a certain number of their Showtime cards.

As for those other examples, none of them were competing in the same market. Coker has always been willing to co-promote with other MMA promoters provided they don't have a presence in the United States. When Bjorn tried to work with him to make Alvarez-Melendez happen, Coker wouldn't give him the time of day. He had no interest in helping a potential competitor.

I suspect the same will be true in regards to WSOF. Coker will happily co-promote with someone like KSW or OneFC or DEEP, but he won't co-promote with another North American promoter.

Nope.

Coker was always up for co-promoting with MMA shows with no presence in the USA. The only American promotion he worked with was EliteXC, and that was only because he caught them with their pants down in the Frank Shamrock fiasco. Aside from that, he never co-promoted with another American MMA promotion.

Co-promoting is rare.

But Strikeforce/Coker were about as amenable to the idea as anyone.

Just one problem

Sefo is not in charge of shit! He is just a spokesman.

Bloody Elbow - Scott Coker shares his plans for Bellator
By John S. Nash (Aug 20)

Bloody Elbow:
You've talked in the past you're open to co-promoting. Is there a chance we can see you working with Glory or any other MMA promotions?

Scott Coker:
Yes. I think the door is open for everything. We've already been in touch with One FC. We have been talking to Matt Hume. We are going to talk to KSW. We are going to talk to Bamma. Co-promotion is also working with Jesse Finney or Duke Rufus or other local promotions. They know where all the talent is in their local market.

We found Tyron Woodley when we did a fight in St. Louis. He was fighting on the undercard. We never would have discovered him if we didn't do a show there with Jesse. These guys are out there building the next guys and we get a chance to take a look at them and build a relationship and it's a win for everyone.

Anyway, what MATCHUPS would you make?

Tyrone Spong vs Rampage
Marlon Moraes vs Ed Dantas (C)
Anthony Johnson vs Emanuel Newton
Okami vs Mo Lawal (at catchweight or MW)
Justin Gaethje vs Dave Rickles
Rick Glenn vs Patirico Freire
JZ Cavalcante vs Lloyd Woodard

Mo Lawal can make MW? I doubt it, but would be interesting that fight
No point on Shlemenko-Okami, Yushin would grapplefuck Shlemenko so easy. I would like to see Halsey-Okamin though

The Coker vision for MMA is top notch. Best promoter in MMA today.

How is this baseless speculation still floating around?

WSOF is tight with the UFC. They will NEVER work with Bellator. No matter how much Coker says "pretty please with sugar on top."
