Is it Possible?--Bellator & WSOF to put on a Co-promoted Event

As cool as it would be. WSOF isn't serious about this, and Bellator would never do it. It's a big publicity bluff to create a 2nd place rivalry.

Anyway, what MATCHUPS would you make?

Tyrone Spong vs Rampage
Marlon Moraes vs Ed Dantas (C)
Anthony Johnson vs Emanuel Newton
Okami vs Mo Lawal (at catchweight or MW)
Justin Gaethje vs Dave Rickles
Rick Glenn vs Patirico Freire
JZ Cavalcante vs Lloyd Woodard

(All 3 round fights except the main event)

Tyrone Spong vs. Rampage Jackson
Andrei Arlovski vs. Cheick Kongo
Yushin Okami vs. Alexander Shlemenko
Rousimar Palhares vs. Douglas Lima
Anthony Johnson vs. Attila Veigh/Emmanuel Newton
Jon Fitch vs. Rick Hawn
Steve Carl vs. Karl Amoussou
Chris Horodecki vs. Bubba Jenkins

King Mo needs to be on there somewhere as well.

There can't be any belts on the line for this and it can't be "winner takes all". The profits needs to be divided up in Bellator's favor and percentages need to be agreed upon ahead of time. This BATTLE of the ORGS idea is about the only thing that would make either promotion PPV worthy. Even if one organization's star loses, he'll still become more famous in defeat than he ever will in victory with their respective promotion (think: Brett Rogers).

The only way this works is if...

Viacom buys WSOF! Once that happens, the WSOF brand is dropped and its like UFC purchasing Strikeforce, Pride, etc. The last true co-promotions were in Japan with Pride and K-1, Pride and HEROES. The co-promotions with Strikeforce and EliteXC were legit, but it was due to a legal dispute for the services of Frank Shamrock.

Once a promotion is bought, it loses a bit of the edge of discussing which promotion has better fighters, etc. That said, you still get to see fights you would not before, but its a bit more exciting to see one promotion's representative versus another. I think there is a far more realistic chance of seeing Glory and Bellator cross-promoting. I think that also makes more sense, as you have the potential to expose your sport/fighter to new markets. There is also the shared network/investments.

Damn, Aziz's list disappoints me. I was really hoping to see how WSOF WW champ Steve Carl would fare in Bellator.

WSOF is just doing this so Bellator can tell them to fuck off, and idiots will act like the reason was that "Bjorn was scared" when WSOF is just riding the coatails because even Bellator's modest numbers are quite godly to WSOF numbers...and in theory, WSOF is in bed with that other Vegas company.

Also, even if you were somehow able to get the "stars to align" for one card as listed...that wouldnt be a big selling PPV. It would just be Bellator wasting fights for their own fighters on guys they can't use later on. Also, completely blowing their whole model to shit.

He already fought in Bellator couldn't get to a tourney final in two tries. Part of the reason people thought Askren having to go to the WSOF to prove himself to the UFC was a joke when the WSOF champion lost in one tourney Hornbuckle who Askren dominated to win the tournament and lost Lima in another one and the Lima got dominated by Askren.

Wouldnt mind seeing of them be bought out by the other to create one org.

Would def give that org more depth. Divs would be filled with some name guys and lots of prospects.

Bellator wins easily, Minakov would destroy arlovski, Limas would destroy Palhares, Hawn knockout Fitch, Kraus by decision vs Karakhanian. For Eddie or Chandler i m sure they would win even i havent even seen wsof lightweight Top contenders. Bellator Top fighters would make it easily even on ufc Top ten. WSOF Top fighters maybe suitable for UFC roster but for being Top ten i doubt it (except Okami). I doubt Fitch would be Top ten now if he had stay in UFC.

Okami would probably beat Shlemenko, Lima vs. Palhares could go either way.

Unfortunately there is no way this event actually takes place. A lot of the Bellator champs already have title contenders lined up to fight for the belt. Plus there's no way that SpikeTV or NBC Sports Network ever lets somthing like this happen.

An event like this is possible. DREAM vs. Sengoku happened, DREAM and Strikeforce worked together, EliteXC had fighter sharing with every org. under the sun, Affliction and Strikeforce worked together, ONE FC worked with Pancrase, ROAD FC, DEEP, and others,...., to name a few.

I think Shlemenko would beat Okami but would be a good fight and good go the other way as well.

Lima would smash Palhares. I like Palhares but I think Lima would demolish him.

I don't like the match up of Okami vs Sclemenko.
They're both good MWs but there are better matchups for each of them.

This would definitely be an interesting card. Page vs. Spong sounds like it would be fireworks.

I don't think wsof would get smashed like many think. I think they win at least 50/50. Maybe I'm ufc biased
