For a guy who doesnt cut weight and does not wrestle, he was a champ and knocked out a lot of guys we expected to give him trouble. But alas, eventually age wins

seriously, do we have to have one of these every time someone loses?

as advertised, he's a great fighter, he's getitng old.

Of course not. JFC

If he was overrated why wasnt he on a three fight losing streak years ago?

He's been in alot of wars, he's slowing down, and probably cant take hits as well as he used to. Which is what happens....to everyone??

Are they ALL overrated?
loses 3 fights in a row at 35, he was never good...

Time beats everyone. You also can be undefeated your whole career but even at the end of your career, most will show vulnerability to get hit or even slowing down.

Idk but it's been rough as of late

Was Anderson overrated? Was Fedor overrated??? When you fight often enough again guys hungrier and younger than you you're eventually going to lose.

If GSP or Khabib fought well into their 30's against guys in their primes they would have lost too, but they were smart enough and content with what they accomplished. Fucking morons that don't understand fighting

To be fair, he did cut weight. Especially since Pereira 2 he's noticeably bigger.
Not to take anything away from his overall career. I wonder if the extra muscle hinders his speed and agility, along with his reflexes slowing down.

Former MW champion with title defenses, has a solid win over the current LHW champion, just as advertised, the thing is, the "advertisement" on him, its from a few years back.

He’s a bit overrated. Competitive fights with Vettori. Never had him in trouble. Old Anderson took a round off him. Romero took a couple of rounds off him and perhaps could have won if he’d emptied his gas tank in the 3rd and coasted, gave up the 4th and 5th more readily.

Life & death with Gastelum, rocked a couple of times.

Extremely competitive 2nd fight with Whittaker, arguably Rob could’ve won.

KOed by Pereira. Outclassed and rocked by Strickland. Rocked & Subbed by DDP… All before age 36. Anderson was still champ at 37.

Speed, reflexes, the ability to take a shot are all things that go downhill once you've been in the game long enough

Izzy is a counter fighter. He plays that game of inches, where you move just far enough away to avoid the strike, while still being in range to throw back.

His style is going to suffer most from aging, even if his technical skill is still there.

There's things he could get away with when he was younger that he won't be able to risk anymore, but those are already deeply ingrained patterns that worked because they played off his natural reflexes.

They're not something you can really change easily.

When you watch some of Izzy's fights during his comeup, he was a monster. The speed, reflexes, counters, technique, diversity of strikes. Can't do that forever tho, it's a young man's game.

Hes been fighting for 15 years, not just in mma but also kickboxing. It all adds up.

Hes 35 with 100+ fights of mileage and has been absorbing strikes at like twice the rate in the second half of his UFC career.
This is probably overlooked. His mileage is gigantic.
People would happily claim that guys like Fedor, Cain, JDS only lost when past their primes but they were as young as Adedanya and with a fraction of his mileage.

And adding to that:

He is facing only the top: Pereira, Strickland, DDP, Whitaker

Imavov has massively improved in the past year (change of team seems to be working) especially in KO power. He has flaws but he is possibly the most dangerous striker at MW. I would not be surprized if he knocks out DDP or Strickland next.

Nobody is really the same after their dog dies.

Especially the one izzy used to jerk off.
