Yeah Max should be stripped of the fake belt IMO. Everyone complains that it’s fake, fine, then that means they can take it away whenever, and give it to the more deserving fighter.

It doesn't mean shit. It's a marketing ploy, basically an attempt to give meaning to a fight with a couple of fan favorite fighters who aren't in contention for a real title.

I have read this many times around sherdog, that applies to the original BMF belt, and even then, Masvidal fought not once but twice for the WW belt, even Nate Diaz got a shot at one point for the LW belt, got sent back to the line but at one point he was in contention for the "real" title (like if they arent UFC´s marketing ploy too, its UFC only...that tells you something), then we have Poirier and Gaethje, two guys at the end of the road yes, but both former Interim champions and both fought for the LW belt, Holloway, he is a former FW champion with title defenses on his record and fought for it again, lost but i guess thats what being in "contention" means, those 3 fighters have proved to be at the elite level of their divisions consistently.

I just want to see the UFC try and sell another BMF title fight for Max against someone after Top just brutally KOd Max and is walking around with his own BMF and claiming he's the true champ.
