Is Frank Mir a legend of the sport?

Yes, just for the humiliating finishes on Big Nog

Nope.

I respect what he accomplished in his career but I've never seen him on that level.

Hof for coming back from nearly losing a leg and inning a title.

He's white Gary Goodridge.

One thing I have been impressed by him is his resilency; coming back when others have counted him out. A foot solider.

Legend status is reserved for those that hold titles for a long time and beat top competition doing it. Mir did some good things in mma but he's not a legend.

What exactly is a legend?
I think what it boils down to is a legend is somebody people will be talking about generations from now. With that definition in mind, I think Mir would have to be considered a legend because some of his subs are going to be in greatest sub ever highlight reals as long as MMA is around. It's not just the technique but the situations themselves that make them so memorable.

Pretty good definition. Too many people think it only has to do with records. Buster Douglas didn’t have a great career, but he could still be considered a legend because of one fight that people still talk about.

This thread is done every year. He's a UFC legend, not an mma legend. His only great win was against Tim Sylvia. I know he beat Nog when Nog was #2 in the world but please, Kimbo would have beaten Nog that night. He has several good wins though.

Yes

Anderson Silva is a legend. Jones is a legend. Fedor is a legend. Randy Couture is a legend. GSP is a legend.

Frank Mir is not.

He's like kinda like Rich Franklin. He had a decent run and won the belt when the UFC HW division was pretty weak. Then he made a career out of beating past prime legends.

Answer is no. He's not an MMA legend. Far from it. UFC legend? Sure, but that doesn't mean much. Even Forrest and Bonnar are considered UFC legends.

I say yes, he has a laundry list of achievements and has been fighting since i think ufc 34. What more could the man do.

So he broke Tim Sylvia's arm. Who cares?

Seriously though I think he's a legend.

I think so. He ended his career poorly as many fighters do but had some great wins, won fights using an incredibly diverse array of methods, and was a champion.

On the next Sherdog Legends....One of the 3 mma legends is spotlighted.
