Is Colby one of the most over-rated fighters of all time?

I agree.

His wins are all against fading or washed fighters. His only claim to fame is 'doing well' when he lost to Usman.

He basically gets treated as a good fighter because of how elite Usman was and how Colby was able to take a round or two from him.

But in terms of actual wins, it's crazy when you look at Colby's resume.. like who is his best win? Welterweight RDA?

He's the modern day josh koscheck, his grappling is above average and his striking is serviceable, plus knows how to lean into his shtick to sell tickets.

He's an excellent "b+ fighter" but his personality will be remembered beyond his actual fighting.
Koscheck had legitimate KO power and was may more explosive than Colby. But Colby had better cardio and I'd argue chin/defense/grappling. In terms of career accomplishments I'd rank them about the same, slight edge to Colby.

I'd have Colby around the same as Demian Maia or Jake Shields, although I'd argue they had a much tougher strength of schedule.

DHK was ranked 7 when Colby beat him, Maia was ranked 3, RDA was ranked 1, then he got stripped of an interim title for needing nasal surgery and had to fight #10 Lawler, then completely smashed #5 Woodley, and #6 Masvidal and 2 neck and neck fights with the champ, but he did lose a doctor stoppage from a cut 12 hours ago at nearly 37, so of course now that becomes a "horrendous resume" because sherdog, and the real top fighter is Ian Garry whose best wins are a split decision against #11, and a sketchy 29-28 against #15.

Absolutely.

The last win over a non-washed/much higher mileage fighter he had was Bryan Barbarena lol.

Colby is a middling never-was.

He's never fought anyone in their absolute prime. All the guys were 35 years+ in age.

He used to be a decent fighter but he is over his prime and has not been very active in yours.

Now compare the fight mileage, age, and career relevance of those "ranked" guys he beat, vs Colby at the time.

A pattern emerges, and not one favorable to Cuckby.

Colby will have a bad legacy..

He made more money by being a promoter / heel type. But the way he did it.. he’ll always be remembered as a douche / ass that no one liked, with racist overtones as well. Hope it was worth it.
Nothing he ever said was racist. like those libs that automatically assume anyone who supports trump is racism lmao ?

Sure, Maia had just fought for the title 3 months earlier, RDA lost his title in 2016 at 32, moved up 2017 and was 3-0 for the year, DHK was 22-3 and on a 3 fight win streak, winning 7 of his last 8.

Ian Garry's opponents- 36 year old #15 Daniel Rodriguez coming off a loss, 36 year old #11 Neal Magny coming off a loss and split decision win over a can, a split decision with 33 year old #11 Geoff Neal coming off a loss, and 37 year old MVP.

Leon Edwards is another WW taking on the senior circuit, with the only guy under 35 he's fought in almost 6 years being a split decision with Gunnar Nelson, and his only win in 3 years before his title shot was a completely washed punching bag Nate Diaz coming off getting finished by Masvidal, and he almost got KO'd himself in that one.

Colby lost to Joaquin Buckley? Fucking lol.

Hope he ran out of the arena again.

Other than his two competitive losses to Usman, there really isnt a whole lot to talk about.

His eyeliner is normally on point!
One of the weirdest takes on sherdog. It's like you've never seen a human being outside before lolol. Were you looking deep into his eyes and feeling a tingling sensation inside you?

Now you can't handle it and have to make fun of him for it. Let it out man, no one will make fun of you for it. Say it loud say it proud!
