Is Colby one of the most over-rated fighters of all time?

I've seen this opinion online a bunch since his loss to Buckley. Do you agree? His resume is not that impressive (best win was RDA and RDA pushed him) and he last won vs a shot Masvidal. At his peak, he went toe to toe with Usman, won a few rounds against him and put on freak cardio displays, but usually against shot fighters such as Woodley and Lawler.
One thing for sure tho, dude has a horrendous resume for a 3 time title challenger, holy shit.

Yes, he's over-rated.

Another wrestler with ZERO punch and ZERO submission threat. Can't finish.

Just good cardio + pressure (in days gone by), but under-sized for the division.

Now he's just under-sized without the same intensity and pressurs ... in other words, a sitting duck.

.

Yes, he only had cardio and wrestling, once that went out of the window he got nothing, without his cardio he can't use his wrestling nor pressure.

Prime Colby was a solid fighter who had the toughness and cardio to match up well with Usman (and several others in his division, obviously). Personally I don't think he was overrated when he was making a legitimate run for the title.

That said, no disrespect to him, but I feel like he didn’t have the IQ or charisma to fully commit to his heel persona. Instead of becoming a true villain in the eyes of fans and fighters, he just ended up garnering tons of X-Pac heat lol.

When he created this persona, he alienated many of his best training partners and significantly slowed his competition schedule. He averaged only about 1.6 fights per year after the Maia fight, compared to ~3 fights per year earlier in his UFC career up to and including the Maia fight. That lack of momentum is bound to lead to fans labeling someone as overrated, and limited access to top-tier training partners is a recipe for a stagnating/declining skill set.

In my opinion, Colby’s gimmick ended up ruining his career. He had the tools to be great, but the decisions he made outside the cage held him back.

He was really good before the first loss to Usman and getting kicked out of ATT. I think a combination of those two things just ruined him and he turned into a rank squatter who was super selective with his bouts. Now he's clearly past it. Not much more to talk about.

One of the weirdest takes on sherdog. It's like you've never seen a human being outside before lolol. Were you looking deep into his eyes and feeling a tingling sensation inside you?

Now you can't handle it and have to make fun of him for it. Let it out man, no one will make fun of you for it. Say it loud say it proud!
Baby boy's cult hero lost a fight, so he's gonna pretend he's never heard the really common rumor/question about Colby's obvious black lines on his eyes

Talked his way into 2 title shots he didn’t deserve. Colby the magaturd is a fraud!

No. I don't think so. He was a top 5 WW for a few years.
I won't call him number 2 because he avoided some serious contenders while he was at the top. Only fought Leon after Leon became champ. He didn't fight burns. I'm still wondering why the WB fight never came to fruition.

Lmao, he’s said heaps of shit over the years.
Cognitive bias is a real thing.
The fact that Colby came out with an American flag acting like he's a real American when Buckley is an American citizen born in St. Louis is just a reminder about who Colby thinks is and isn't Americans. If you don't look, sound and believe the same thing Colby does to him you're not an American. Think about how legitimately anti-american holding that belief is.

He decided to fight once a year in his prime, his fault.

If I have to be brutally honest Colby will always be known as a White Knight that got his ass kicked by black dudes with the most satisfying losses in MMA.
