Is Cain Velasquez still in his prime??

As soon as better drug testing was introduced he gassed in 1 round. You can say high altitude but 1 round is joke.

After all his years in wrestling who took a lot from his body, then those constant injuries in the past few years, he is almost 34 and barely fights, i mean Cain from 2008-2011 was a monster, he looked almost invincible and could be the Fedor that the UFC never had, but his carreer stagnated badly, on top of that he lost the belt and he is already injured again. Honestly, i don`t think we will ever see the best Cain Velasquez ever again, i think he probably past his prime and i wouldn`t be surprise if he losses to a Miocic or even Overeem, Werdum i said he was the worst matchup possible and i still think they can fight in USA,China or in my backyard, Werdum wins...Hope he proves me wrong.

No but he's still potentially the best. His style is hard for a lot of big men to handle.

The real question is what prime we are talking about..
His " prime " consisted of fighting once a year at best lately, and being injured and pulling out the rest of the time..
Guy already had 3 serious knee injuries and a torn shoulder ( labrum? ) ..

And it's coming from one of his biggest fans here that put my avatar prior to the Lesnar fight and never removed it even in harsch times ( JDS 1st loss, FW loss ) .
But let's be real his rematch ( finally not happening ) was unwarranted and he should have to prove he can fight twice before getting another one.
Last thing I want is the HW div to be put hold for years again.

How do embed a spoiler folks?

Velasquez is my favourite fighter. Really hope he regains his form and gets that title back. I was convinced it was lack of training at altitude that led to his loss last time, but seeing how all these fighters are looking like shadows of their former selves with this new testing they've implemented, I'm sceptical.

I can't see DC and Rockhold using PEDS, or Cain for that matter, it's only how reduced his insane cardio was in his last fight that's making me think he may have been on something.

Well there was an old interview years ago ( video one ) of Mendez where he stated that he was kinda anti PEDs stance, but he admitted knowing some of the AKA fighters were doing it on their own.
Not accusing anyone for sure, but on his own admission some of his roster was using..
Too bad it's so old I can't find it anymore ( it was around the time of the UFC / AKA problems concerning the image of AKA fighters's right about the UFC game, like 5 years ago, prior to CV being champ, and Fitch, Kos and Swick were still at AKA SJ )

I'd say he was done after the third fight with Junior. The stress that he puts on his body has accelerated its breakdown and I don't think we'll ever see the HurryCain again given how badly he performed in Mexico City.

Oh come on.

He's coming off a year+ layoff, another surgery and is obviously older. Combine all of that with fighting at altitude and not arriving early to prepare.

Also suffice to say Werdum hitting him zapped his energy. I think its unfair to cast aspersions on a guy who never failed a test and take credit away from Werdum, who prepared and fought like a champion.

Werdum is definitely on the 'most improved fighter' list. He looked awesome.

We will see in his next appearance if he's in or out of his prime.

How can a guy who's known to outwork lightweights not last 1 round without gassing.

He's still good enough to bounce Browne's head off the canvas like a basketball.

Nobody knows what Cain's prime really even was. He only fought like 2 guys in half a decade and kept rematching them. He finally faced somebody who wasn't terrified of getting wrestlefucked and he got his ass handed to him.

His next fight against Browne at sea level will determine that.

Nope.

Cain is the worst thing to happen to the heavyweight division. He needs to just go away.

we'll see how he looks in his next fight. if he destroys browne, you'll start seeing cain avatars again. remember that he lost to the champ, and not fighting means you're not taking damage, so that helps with longevity. the question is whether he can stay healthy.
