Is anyone else less and less interested in personalities, more into the sport?

For example, I have seen about 3 TUF episodes in full, but have watched about 50 episodes as I usually fast forward to the end just for thr fights.

I agree. I stopped "hating" fighters a long time ago, and it made watching MMA a lot more fun.

Naturally, everyone has both their favourites and the people that rub them the wrong way. But man, the way people talk about fighters here, you'd think that the fighter fucked their mother.

Not because I care less about personalities, but things feel more fake and manufactured (chuck and Tito beef felt realer than Weidman/rockhold brought to you by reebok) a

Also, every major fight gets cancelled, so I don't get nearly as excited until it's actually fight time

No I like both the sport and the colorful fighters.

I'm not into Conor's routine for the most part. I hate any entertainer who talks about their money or making money. It's played out, cheap and easy to do

how the hell did this get resuscitated?

Anyone who has been a long time fan of MMA watches it for the fights. Anyone else just started and is trying to supplement their WWE addiction.

The personalities hasn't ever been of much interest to me. I watch MMA to see beautiful displays of technique.

I've been a fan since Tito Ortiz put guy mezger is my bitch on his t-shirt . And Ken Shamrock freaked out at him.
So no. Punching and kicking is not enough to get me interested.

The wordy title says it all: is anyone less and less interested in following particular fighters, but liking the sport more for what it is?
I'm not like this any other sport. If I watch football or basketball, it's probably for a specific team, but for MMA, I'm just getting less interested in following individual careers, and more interested in the sport as a whole.

This doesn't mean I don't have old favorites. I've been watching the sport for more than 10 years now, I'm bound to have a few guys I love to watch fight (and hopefully win), but at this point, I'm more excited for a quality card than one with big names.

I know I'm being redundant. Anyone else in the same boat?
There are some fighters I watch for their brutal dominance: Cro Cop, Fedor, Cain, JDS, Stipe, Rory Mac

There are others I watch for their display of skill and technique: GSP, Anderson, Jones

There are others I watch for their godly physicality and violence, like Randleman, Hendo, Shogun, and Rampage.

Others I watch for their heart, like Big Nog.

But I'm human, so I have to admit there are others I watch for their trash talking personality, like Conor

And there are others I watch because they're memes, like Platinum.

Be a fan who can do it all lol.

I don't care about personalities at all.

But my idea of the sport is not this Unified Rules and 10-9 garbage that has come about.

much better sports for that then lol
Not if you're looking for diversity there's not. Yes, you can find better specialists, which is why I also watch a shitload of grappling and kickboxing, but there is no sport with a wider range of different martial arts skills than MMA. For obvious reasons. There are plenty of epic displays of skill in MMA, even if not every single fighter is at that level. I watch MMA for displays of greatness, and while there might be some time in between, sometimes it materialises in places you don't expect it to.

Yes. I couldn't care less about the personality and showman ship of it all.

I have some favorites but I mainly watch MMA for the sport. I'm a fan of exciting and/or technical fighters. A fighter having a good or entertaining personality is a plus but it's not the reason I tune in for their fights

I tune in for

I watch MMA for the fights. I don't care about PPV numbers. I don't care how much a fighter makes. I don't care for the WWE style promo cuts. I don't care about buyrates. I don't care about looks or how appealing a fighter is.

I care about the competition, I care about matchups and last but not least, I care about the fight itself.

I detest the manufactured trash talking. Makes me cringe and change the channel. Same as basically anything personal about the fighters. Who is their wife, do they have kids, etc. I think it is really lame, I am not into the celebrity worship thing and I think it is pathetic seeing grown men line up for autographs and a picture.

The only thing I care about is the fighting. I'll watch a behind the scenes video when it is about training but I don't care about their upbringing, I don't want t biography.

i don't want relationship
i just want
bang bang bang
