Is Adesanya Done at a Chamionship Level or Does He Take This Agaisnt Dricus?

It’s amateur at best, trust me, you will see the difference vs izzy, it will be like nunez vs pena in the striking
To call a champions striking "Amateur at best" while the lad won South Africa's first medal at the WAKO World Championships by winning gold in K-1 style kickboxing, followed by a UFC championship shows a lack of nuanced understanding on your part, mate.
Izzy is a pure counter striker, always has been, while DDP is a lot more adaptable, knowing how to mix in the pressure of his pure physicality against other MWs that on paper are "better" strikers, ask Bobby Knuckles.

Israel has only knocked out men rushing towards him with their guards down, he has never finished a fight while going forward. Name a single finish he's had that wasn't a counter strike.

I think Adesanya is going to come back at a new level.

Last time we saw him he was complacent, unmotivated.

I think he picks Dricus apart. Dricus will be confident and aggressive, I see him getting sniped and outpointed. His striking is slow and sloppy (despite his recent success, I see him as a flash in the pan that benefited from good timing), his best route to winning is to wreste, grapple and make this a dirty fight.
It’s not about DDP , you can make all the excuses you want to- Izzy is done

I've come to realise those who are just handed title fights don't win them. Guys like Colby, Izzy, won't win. The universe won't allow it

I think DDP will win. I don’t trust Izzy coming back. DDP has the more well rounded skillset and we’ve seen him go five rounds now.

Yeah I think DDP is kind of underrated, he's like Cormier and Volk, not a long highlight reel really but all are great fighters, well rounded and damn effective, DDP takes this

Izzy is fighting for the belt off of 50-45 loss. That's all you need to know about how much the UFC pushes this guy.

Win, lose or draw he's not done at the top he's still young an will be in a few more title fights.

I'm not sure I've ever been as confident in a match as I am here: DDP is tailor made to lose to Izzy.

Everybody is forgetting how good Adesanya is, and DDP does not have the striking defense strickland had to pull that off

what if the izzy that showed against jan
jan showed that if your relentless
you can take both izzy and pereira down
Jan was significantly larger, and Izzy's counters come from swaying back out of your reach while still being able to hit you. He couldn't do that against Jan, so his counters never came in to play. DDP does not have that reach

Dricus seems tailor made for Izzy to outpoint or KO with a pinpoint counter. However, watching more of his fights has shown that his power double wrestling is something that Izzy is going to need to be aware of. Strickland did a good job of getting up without taking damage, but I'm not so sure that Izzy will be able to do the same.

I think Dricus wins this, unless Izzy catches him Whittaker 1 style on his way in with a counter.

One could argue that izzy has been slipping since the Jan fight. He lost to Jan, had a super boring uninspired fight against Vetorri and cannonier, arguable lost to whittaker, lost to pereira, and was losing to pereira until he found that chin in the rematch. Then he got outclassed by strickland.

He just hasn't looked dominant or special for years now.
I like how you put " was losing to Pereira until he found that chin " in the rematch when Pereira was losing the 1st fight by a wide margin before finding Izzys chin in the 5th round. Clearly not biased lol

He cleaned out the division in short amount of time with no long breaks and ducked no one. He's been dominant his entire UFC run but like I said the Strickland fight was very odd.

If he and Strickland fight again and he shows up motivated he'd beat Strickland easy. I just don't feel good picking him against DDP after the way he fought Strickland.

That is fair, but you have to admit he's looked far more beatable in recent years, even in some of his wins. I don't agree that he's been dominant his entire run....after the jan fight, he wasn't.

I think he's figured out honestly: He doesn't fight very well when pressured.

It will be hard for him, he's not getting any younger either, and he's not beating Strickland

I think it speaks more to the lack of depth in the upper weight divisions.

Poatan is now at LHW
Driccus already beat #3 Whittaker and #1 Strickland.

#5 Cannonier is coming off a TKO loss
#6 Vettori is injured and #8 Costa is out of the picture

The 'on the way up' guys in the division right now are #7 Allen and #4 Imavov, who fight each other next month. That will produce the next contender.

Allen needed to put Curtis away and make a big statement to stir things up, but he eeked out a split decision. Imavov is on a two fight win streak, I think its good match making to put these two together.

In this landscape, Izzy gets a title shot he doesn't really deserve by good timing and the UFC paying peanuts. Upper weight divisions have shallow roster depth because the pay is so atrocious.

Not really because Cannonier got the loss AFTER the fight was booked. Cannonier should have already had the title shot.

Cannonier just isn't seen as championship material for the UFC. He should have gotten the title shot even before DDP, much less be his first title defense.

Cannonier did get the title shot? He got completely shut out, this was only 3 fights ago. His split stinker with Strickland should not have earned him an automatic second title shot. He also already lost to Whittaker. You are right, he isn't seen as championship material.

If he beat Imavov he would be back in the mix, but instead he continued his trend of never putting more than 2 wins together.

The division is thin and this is where we land. Izzy is still the highest ranked opponent available to Driccus he hasn't already beaten.
