my argument was that fawlty was wrong in stating that gay marriage was generally accepted by the general population.

the population had a vote, and the answer is no. people disagreed with same sex marriage enough to actually ban it by law, even in california that includes san francisco. gay marriage did NOT become legal by being accepted by the majority of americans, it became legal by 5 supreme court justices.

my point of societal pressure is that after the supreme court ruled, dissenting opinion has a negative societal consequence, so that it creates an appearance of agreement, whether or not the average person actually agrees. evidence being that there are many people who voted for prop 8 in california who will not openly state that they oppose gay marriage.

it should be obvious that a direct vote is a better test of peoples feelings than how many people are willing to say it publicly.

I'm not against people doing what they want to do as adults, but I am somewhat wary of homosexuals. So many of them are sort of bitchy, unreliable, self centered. Not every one, but every one I've met personally. Seeing that they threw a hissy fit over Ivanka isn't surprising in the least. It's the exact type of behavior I'd expect of them.

They always seem to only be happy when drunk or high. Again, just the ones I've met that I knew were gay. I'm not saying all are this way.

Lust is probably an issue in society, but to single out homosexuals as the scapegoat would be wrong.

Men are less repulsed by females having same-sex relations due to generally being attracted towards women. But in spite of a lack of natural repulse, there is no need to allow lesbians any more privileges than the homosexuals.

With male/female relations and the number of marriages reaching all-time lows, to a point where we are treating it as a legitimate option to haul people from 3rd world countries to increase population growth, promoting lesbianism (or likewise, homosexuality) is probably not the best of ideas for the society.

If you continue to push agendas which curb population growth, while at the same time criticizing the citizens for a lack of fertility compared to foreigners who are brought in to replace them, people are going to get ideas. Ideas that may lead to actions somewhere down the line, unfortunately.

I have nothing against gays. Nothing. Two consenting adults can do whatever the hell they wish.

BUT!!!

I definitely have a radically different reaction when seeing two MEN holding hands or kissing or whatever, as opposed to two women.

I think it has to do with empathy. For example, if you ever see a graphic image or video (or in person) of a person getting sliced up by a knife, or hear someone describing the pain of passing a kidney stone, you feel that pain too! You go, "UGH, THAT SUCKS. STOP TALKING ABOUT IT." because you empathize and you get sympathy pains.

By the same token, if I see two gay men doing gay things, I am disgusted because I have natural empathy. I see myself in that situation, even though I would personally never do such a thing. It's not that I hate them for it, but I don't wanna see it or even think it! Any more than I want to see someone getting their teeth pulled out or something like that (teeth pulling is not proportional to gay behavior, I know, I just wanted to get the point across).

Two women on the other hand...I would definitely do that. So yea, I might discriminate on that basis, but never would I say that gay men shouldn't be able to be gay, at least not any more than I would want them to tell me not to be straight.

I have no moral objections to homosexuality. I support them having full legal rights including marriage, equal taxation, etc. I just don't think they should be lionized like a lot of leftists are doing these days. I don't need to see queers kissing on EVERY fucking TV show, even the ones that ostensibly have NOTHING to do with homosexuality. I shouldn't have to walk on eggshells not to risk offending these people. They shouldn't be the moral arbiters of our society. Their sensibilities shouldn't take precedent over mine.
