Is 2026 the best time to split 170 into 165 & 175 divisions?

That has never needed to happen. One of the bigger reasons we're in a logjam is because WW had to wait out Colby's neposhot. If we had Belal dropping Leon on his head back in 2023, the Shavkat defense would have happened before any injury. In that timeline, maybe JDM doesn't become champ, maybe Islam doesn't move up, Shavkat wouldn't need a stay busy fight to result in a Garry loss, which means Garry wouldn't have had to step back to beat Prates, Brady wouldn't have needed to lose in a stay busy fight this past weekend. Different world entirely

Create a "195" division while we're at it. Horrible idea. More divisions like this means less talent in each division and fans missing out on a bunch of would be fights.

Why?

Will it add Top Fighters to the Roster and we'll get more fights of a higher quality?

Or just be the same fighters ranked in two or more different weight classes fighting the same amount of times, but stretched over numerous Divisions trying to pursue trophies based on "ideal" weight fookery and opponent advantages??

Maybe, the UFC should just get ALL the current fighters in the Top 15 of every Division fighting every 6 months to create a proper churn of rise and fall. UFC hasn't maxed out the competitive landscape in the current Divisions, in large part due to Fight Inactivity and Selectivity especially in the Top 10, as they look for Money-Fight Matchmaking.

More weight classes means more cross over champions, "super" fights, rank squatting opportunities, etc. the kind of crap that slows the flow and makes a mockery of this sport-entertainment -- so we accept that it's a game both behind the scenes and in the cage.

It won't add more quality fighters, just spread them out across more Divisions. UFC needs to maximize the current roster in activity and opportunity to rise to the top on merit without delay.

Yes we need more divisions. People need to understand that what makes events compelling are dominant champions on win streaks defending their belts. More weight classes == more chances of dominant champions. This is better for viewership.

Plus, top 5 fighters are trending towards fighting once every 8 months on average. This just isn't enough activity to justify the current number of weight classes. Unless the UFC can find a way to force fighters to fight 2-3 times a year, we need more weight classes.

155
165
175
190
205

Make it happen.

I didn't disagree with you until I read this.

And this is almost as silly.
I hate Jon Jones and I wrote ~
Jon Jones is the youngest UFC champ at 21. Right now people are getting their first contending after 34.
He got crazy long streak of defenses.
Yeah, I know he is wife beating PED abusing finger thrower and I take Fedor or GSP over him any day, but the point stand - he is the only athlethic freak in history of MMA and he showed being a levels over competition in division, that was very strong.

....

And make one single WMMA division.
Maybe 115 and 145 ji separate to beautiful-type lady and sporty-type lady

also follow slap dangal with women WW for torta excitement 🥪💦
