This was my #1 most anticipated show of 2023, and its been the most 'meh.'

The animation is great, but all three episodes have been overall meh.

Not bad.
Not great.
Just 'good' but it feels like 'meh' after the 1st Season is in the Top #5 1st seasons ever.

The story/plots of all three episodes so far have felt inconsequential, like they're side-stories that have been expanded into full episodes. And that's also an issue with the pacing of each episode.

And, of course, just like every comic universe Invincible introduced a multi-verse. It hasn't been good, but it thankfully hasn't been fucking horrible. The sooner this sub-plot is concluded, the better.

1st Season - 10/10
2nd Season (1ep-3ep) - 7/10

Thankfully with the cliffhanger at the end of the 3rd episode implies the 4th episode is going to drastically increase.

Reporting back after watching the 4th episode, and...

...its about fucking time it got back to its Season 1 awesomeness.

And I'm not just referring to the fight scenes, which were still very good. At its heart Season 1's biggest relationship was between Mark & Nolan, Invincible & Onmi-Man, and this being their reunion after their big fight at the end of Season 1, it.... fulfilled expections.

Rather make the rest of my post for those who've also watched the episode.

Seems like this will be the last episode Mark and Nolan are together for a while. Probably until the end of the season. So while I was hoping the rest of the season would go back to its Season 1 awesomeness, it seems like it'll go back to the rest of the monotonous storylines we suffered through in Ep1-3.

AtomEve's fight putting her parents in danger, and she had to save them. Cliche AF and dependent upon an amazing coincidence that they were in the one car that was blown off the bridge.

And undoubtedly the weakest storyline so far is the one about Donald. Is he a clone? An android? I truly don't care because he practically was an extra in the 1st season. Can't imagine how the consequences of however that storyline conclusion will have any significant effect on anything.

sherbrah, try Blue Eyed Samarai. I haven't seen yet will watch over holiday but everyone I know who likes anime says it's the best they have seen (if you ignore some "messaging"). They said it blows Arcane and Invisible out the water. You need your anime fix maybe try that (it's on Netflix).

Blue Eyed Samurai was awesome. I enjoyed the hell out of it.

Probably the most graphically violent anime I ever scene, most graffic nudity sex scenes in a non porn anime I seen and one of best visual animes I ever seen up there with DS and Arcane there. Story isn't bad either on 3rd ep n hyped for rest Most enjoyable anime since Arcane for me

I checked it out too based on this thread.

It's good.

Like Kill Bill but without the foot fetishism.

It took me a while to get around to watching the 1st episode. Although it has high praise from you guys I'm typically not a fan of anime. The vast majority of the animation is, in my opinion, is lazy.

So I watched the 1st episode and was consistently impressed with every aspect of the visuals. The directing, the seamless animation, and it had a distinct respect of ancient Japanese art. It is far and beyond the best anime I have ever seen, so I had suspicions... and they were correct.

From the 'Blue Eyed Samurai' Wiji - 'animated by French company Blue Spirit.'

Not animated in Japan, but clearly inspired by anime. I'd compliment it as 'anime perfected.'

But I wouldn't say it 'blows' Arcane out of the water, but it certainly is within the same ballpark of quality. French animation studios have set a standard that's worthy of their millenias-long reputation of producing the world's finest art.

There's 7 more episodes in the 1st season, but I won't be bingeing it. I'm going to be enjoying this over a month or two.

@Dragonlordxxxxx

If you haven't started watching Blue Eyed Samurai yet, add it to your short list.

I haven't mentioned the story yet, but for a 1st episode it was quite good.

I already finished Blue Eye Samurai two weeks ago. It's an awesome series.

Episode 4 was pretty good. Not amazing but really helps set up the rest of the season.

Damn they are really waiting over a month for episode 5?

Just when the season was picking up. The fight against the Viltrumites was awesome. Seeing Omni Man let loose on them was great. Even Invincible trying to get onboard with the terms of the fight and how unprepared he was, was done well.

Also hell yeah Clancy Brown!

Wow. I did not expect that out of episode 4. After calling her a pet after 20 years, he really did rebound basically the weekend after a breakup. And the man cannot resist his creampies.

I like all the super conflicted no win situations the show puts the characters in. And for not superhero reasons. You can feel the human family parallels to this.

Creator had to have had a ducked up relationship with an abusive father who wasn’t always bad to put this to page like this.

Also, I love that early 2024 actually means early 2024 as in the first Friday in January 2024. So many places do that and then it’s like late March and damn near spring.

the tongue kissing & moaning in front of Mark was super wrong haaha

Clancy Brown makes everything better.

I liked Gen V, but I was so pissed they killed him off in the first episode.

"Oh my God, you killed the Kurgan! You bastards!"

That wasn’t Atom Eve’s parents in that car that went over the bridge.

These are her parents:

It shows her go home and her Dad lets her in the house right after the bridge scene. If he was the man in the car he wouldn’t be at the house before Atom Eve. He’d be at the hospital, or maybe the morgue.

you clearly know nothing about anime

Finally got around to the 4 episodes mad: can't believe we have wait for more.

The Atom-Eve episode was great, the first two episodes were O.K., the last two where great.

Would love to see an Immortal episode on his back story.

Well this is fucking weak.

In 2021 Invincible debuted with praise from everybody. Every episode for the entire season was available Day-1.

Two and a half year layoff, to only release 4 episodes, week-by-week, and to be frank the first 3 episodes were pretty fucking weak.
Finally, the 4th was awesome and gave everybody what they wanted.

Studio - "Thanks, now you're going to have to wait 4 months to find out what happens next."

<LikeReally5>

Um.... no. They've eaten too much goodwill from fans, and now this show went from 'Eagerly Awaiting' to 'I'll see it when I see it... If I see it.'

The delay in episodes and the overall weak first 4 have definitely dampened any excitement I had for the show. Season 1 was amazing, massive drop off so far for season 2.
