I'm starting to think Nate Diaz's cardio is overrated

I always thought Nate and Nick's cardios were overrated. They don't wrestle; they are volume fighters and most of their punches are not full power; they don't kick - so basically the most taxing parts of MMA are not part of their game. They also don't fight in some relentless pace... and still there were fights in which they were visibly faded and with reduced output in the third round.

Their godly cardio is more or less Rogan's myth. There were fights in which Nick and Nate were slowing down in the third, while at the same time Rogan was going on and on how they can go for 10 rounds and compete in triathlons for fun.

Well that's a lie.
The American Lung Association is concerned about the health impacts of marijuana use, especially on lung health. We caution the public against smoking marijuana because of the risks it poses to the lungs.

Lung Health and Marijuana Smoke
Smoking marijuana clearly damages the human lung. Research shows that smoking marijuana causes chronic bronchitis and marijuana smoke has been shown to injure the cell linings of the large airways, which could explain why smoking marijuana leads to symptoms such as chronic cough, phlegm production, wheeze and acute bronchitis.4,9

Smoking marijuana has also been linked to cases of air pockets in between both lungs and between the lungs and the chest wall, as well as large air bubbles in the lungs among young to middle-aged adults, mostly heavy smokers of marijuana.

Smoke is harmful to lung health. Whether from burning wood, tobacco or marijuana, toxins and carcinogens are released from the combustion of materials. Smoke from marijuana combustion has been shown to contain many of the same toxins, irritants and carcinogens as tobacco smoke.4-7

Beyond just what's in the smoke alone, marijuana is typically smoked differently than tobacco. Marijuana smokers tend to inhale more deeply and hold their breath longer than cigarette smokers, which leads to a greater exposure per breath to tar.8

Secondhand marijuana smoke contains many of the same toxins and carcinogens found in directly-inhaled marijuana smoke, in similar amounts if not more.5 While there is no data on the health consequences of breathing secondhand marijuana smoke, there is concern that it could cause harmful health effects, especially among vulnerable children in the home. Additional research on the health effects of secondhand marijuana smoke is needed.

no it isnt, thats by far NOT the only difference
as someone who has smoked both for a long period of time.....when I stopped smoking cigarettes i immediately lost the chronic cough, phlegm production and ive never had chronic bronchitis despite smoking both tobacco and weed for 25+years

of course any inhalation of a incinerated substance is going to be harmful to your lungs ...... theres no way around that .....

BUT

the number 1 key to health is stress mitigation...hands down....any doctor worth a dollar will tell you that stress is the number 1 killer, weed helps you to maintain peace and serenity and dare I say...even enhances it

marijuana is not yet into the later stages of mass production that tobacco has undergone where it is bombarded with a ridiculous amount of useless and unneeded, artifical and harmful chemical additives which are severely detrimental to one's health

if you have good clean fuel for your body((food and drink)) and your body isnt forced into battle against the bombardment of unnecessary things found in most supermarket sustenance, then the little bit of damage from the act of smoking ((weed)) is something your body will easily deal with
its bad for your cardiovascular performance. you wouldnt find any triathlete or marathone runner smoking pot. michael phelps smoke but hes not an endurance swimmer.

I'd love to be as "out of shape" as a guy who did a triathlon to train for this fight that won every round and arguably got a 10-8 rd 3.
The slander in this thread is alarming. I’m convinced a lot of these posters have only seen Nates last three fights

He trains distance cycling he might consider the AKA airdyne circuit training as a supplement

this is simply not true, there are triathletes and marathon runners ((im assuming all over the world)) that smoke pot....the Diaz brothers are two that we all immediately know of....

obviously....that goes without saying...but that doesnt mean that people dont do it, smoking cigarettes is even worse for you but there are professional athletes that do that as well....just because someone is a "professional athlete" doesnt mean that they live the healthiest life possible....

Says he was tired in 3rd round against Pettis, which is why he couldn't finish him, but it didn't seem that high-pace of a fight. Failed to finish Conor in rematch, suggesting he couldn't outcardio him, which he should have been able to because Conor's cardio is very bad. I am starting to think guys like Tony Ferguson and Colby Covington have far superior cardio than Nathan.
He got tired in the 2nd Conor fight, he has good cardio but its nothing amazing

Weed is bad for your lungs, his lungs are probably destroyed.

Yes, the guy who landed 252 strikes against Conor and 258 against Cerrone to overtake Bisping and Edgar for most strikes landed ever is overrated with regard to cardio and Stamina.
<{chips}><WellThere>

Definetly ring rust. To gas in a 5 round war isn't something that really needs to be addressed. I'm sure there were some nerves the other night and he also used a more wrestling heavy strategy then he regularly does so that couldn't have helped.

To go 5 rounds and and absorb the punishment nate does is to have incredible cardio. Stop being an idiot.

The way people are talking about Nate, it obvious that they muse be forgetting this way his first fight back in 3 years.

You saw the litany of issues with donating tobacco smokers lungs I posted. Meanwhile “Lungs, like other needed organs, are on permanent back order. This inspired science to investigate other options in order to save lives. Researchers in the Department of Cardiothoracic Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory Support in Harefield, UK looked into the efficacy of cannabis smokers’ lungs post-donation. They evaluated early and mid-term outcomes of cannabis consumers’ donations and found that there appear to be no negative outcomes of cannabis inhalation on the quality and efficacy of the donation.”

You were saying it’s just as bad as tobacco, yet organ recipients receive no weed damage related complications when using weed smokers organs while tobacco organs are fucked. Rates of lung cancer don’t increase for weed smokers, their lung function isn’t affected like a tobacco smokers, they are inhaling a burnt plant not a nightmarish list of hazardous chemicals like in a cigarette.

The city air in a major city is probably worse for your lungs than a few grams smoked through a bong quite frankly. Sit near a fire for a few minutes and the amount of smoke your lungs will inhale will be the equivalent of many cones, humans evolved using fire after all, we can handle a few lungfuls of smoke.

because it is, i mean don't get me a wrong the guy has good cardio but it all depends on your output
guys like Jones, Colby, Ferguson have better cardio because are constantly throwing shit at you none stop

Had you ever heard about ring rust??

Also, Diaz finished strong and won the fight while being the underdog.
