It was one of the most amazing KOs in MMA history. We all understand Max is a volume guy and not a natural KO artist. You saw the result of volume come to the end in the finest form possible. There are a lot of intangibles in fighting and Max has a lot of them.

Ilia is clearly a KO machine and he's rightly favored here.

I was one of the only guys picking Max going into that fight, despite being flamed by everyone here who was certain Justin was gonna end his career and leave him with cte.

That said, that KO was the perfect storm for Max, he had a guy who was down on the scorecards and who is known to go rock em sock em robots even if that's not the case. He also had a guy who was 24 minutes and 55 seconds into the fight and probably lost most of his power by then (yes Max fought for the same amount of time, but we all know that fucker doesn't gas). So a desperate, careless and gassed fighter throwing caution to the wind, it was the perfect recipe.

Of course Max still had to do the work and land one of his punches, but the odds of him getting a KO in his next fight are very low... 8 of his last 10 fights went to decision, his two knockouts were this one that was 1 second from going to another decision, and the zombie corpse of Korean Zombie who had no business being in there with him.

Yes, he will always have that cardio in him, but I see him getting the worst of the striking exchanges with Ilia, who is basically Volk with knockout power.
