After Charles used the leg lock to get Ilia off him, Ilia stood up and then chose not to go back into Charles' guard.

Was this because he wanted a KO?
To choose the easiest path to victory?
Or because he recognised a genuine threat of losing if he continued to grapple?

Chucky.O would rather break your leg than FIGHT.

It all Comes down to the TRUTH. FIGHT.

In high school you'd be a freak if you broke a kid's limbs.

An Example: in Hawaii a girl broke a girls arm & then chocked her out.

Was she popular??? hello no. Outcast weirdo.

Fighting is Mano y Mano.

what are you one of those goddamn freaks?

You see a man doing this in front of you, Oliveira or not, you don't jump in if you can avoid.

yes to all 3.
He passed Charles guard like butter and than he was on a 50/50 retreating to defend the leg because Charles can threat subs out of his ass, why risk anything?

Wasn’t Charles’s right eye already busted and leaking?

Maybe Ilia was listening to his corner to let the dazed fighter back up for an easier route to victory?

I'd rather hear you explain why he should have jumped into the guard.
I don't think he should have, so no. But obviously there was a decision-making process, considering Ilia is himself a good grappler and had some success against Charles there.

The real question is if he felt a genuine threat from Charles' jiujutsu or not. Because it gives some indication of Ilia's current grappling ceiling.
