If Weidman destroys Rockhold will that finally silence the doubters?

I don't get this melodrama from this fanbase.

He was the smallest challenger underdog to Silva ever, he was favored in the rematch(I think), he was a good favorite over Machida, and he was a big favorite over TRTless Vitor.

Does it get people upset that people even dare suggest that he can lose?

That's not why his supporters get upset. I am a big Weidman fan, and I will readily acknowledge that there is a decent chance Rockhold might beat him. I favor Chris, but he's not indestructible, just a very good fighter.

The reason Weidman fans are sour is because his wins keep getting discredited. All of the haters saying he didn't earn it, he just got lucky, his opponents are too old, etc...When, irl, he's beating the best the division has to offer and he's making it look easy.

Just give credit where credit is due, and then there is no problem.

Of course not. The illogical amount of hate he gets makes for a no-win situation. They'll come up with some nonsense as to why Chris was obviously going to win due to some obvious advantage.

I think it should, the main reason they doubt him is he hasnt fought any of the younger "in prime" mw's (although I considered Silva and Machida in prime).......I personally think Luke will win that fight. But I have Weidman winning against everyone else

I do see some of that on here. Honestly though, I see just as much downplaying of any flaws Weidman shows in his fights and people building him up to be invulnerable.

Between both Weidman won't ever get proper credit on here. He's a great talent with some tough challenges on his plate and good notches under his belt already.

I think it should, but you never know when it comes to people who hate just to hate.

With that said, I think regardless of the result Rockhold and Weidman will fight multiple times. Even Rockhold said himself that he expects to fight Weidman more than once.

He needs to beat Souza and Rockhold. After that I think the people who doubt him will at least have to acknowledge he is dominant at MW.

I can't recall one person bringing up Machida's age before the fight.

I feel like there's nobody he could beat at MW to prove he is a goat. All the old greats are old and the new guys are mid tier IMO. Luke/Jacare/Romero are near the same caliber as Kennedy, they're just not world beaters, though maybe the improved Jacare is legit. I wouldn't say I doubt Weidman, just that he's champ of a division without world beaters coming up.

Who exactly did Anderson beat then to prove he was the MW GoAT? Hendo?

Weidman has a significantly harder schedule, both behind him and ahead of him, than Silva did. Plus, he crushed the GoAT...twice.

Right. Two former Strikeforce and BJJ World champions are mid-tier.

If Weidman beats both of them, he will certainly have a strong claim to GOAT.

There is no doubt in me. Weidman is going to own that division for a bit. A true successor to Silva's legacy, man. Who would have thunk it.

Of course, I was convinced about Pettis, too, haha.

Let's see.. Chris struggled with Machida. Yet Rockhold destroyed him. Styles make fights, this proves that Rockhold can adapt to styles and beat them. Since Chris struggled against a guy that Rockhold figured out so easily, what makes you think that he won't struggle against Rockhold? Rockhold has a better style than Chris, and he will figure out Chris and he KNOWS that when Chris is in trouble on the feet he's going to get taken down, so Rockhold knows how to train for that and to beat the fuck out of him when he gets taken down.

The MW division Chris is lording over is far more dangerous than the one Anderson dominated.

I believe Chris is a better fighter than Anderson at any point in his career, but the Chris has a much tougher road ahead of him than Anderson ever did.

Truth, but he's half way through it, for some perspective. After Rockhold and Jacare, there's maybe Mousasi and/or Romero. A contender from the lower part of the division might slip in between at some point like Leites, but otherwise...what's left? There's a total of 6 top challengers that have existed or emerged since he took the strap and 3 are done.

I personally think so. Rockhold is a young stud and not an aging legend. Weidman goes in there and punishes him, what else could be said? People will bring up the Rockhold vs Belfort fight trying to discredit the win, yet they'll have forgotten how Rockhold dismantled Machida in under 2 rounds. Weidman vs Rockhold will answer a few questions that I have.

Lol I love the morons who keep pointing how they both did against machida and ignore how they both did against Vitor. It's like watching a monkey throwing his own feces. Very, very stupid but you can get a good laugh at them.

What other common opponent do Luke and Chris have.... And what were the results.
