But he really just doesn’t seem ok. Like, he was responding to Dana White’s comments after this recent press conference and literally paws at his eye and adjusts his glasses while listening to it.. I don’t know what happened to him in that Gane fight, but I fear damaged goods

Yea seems real bad. I don't see him lookin good if he returns. It happens i guess, a shame cause hw division is pretty boring without pretending there's someone really good to bring us some entertainment. Though hw divisions always up and down wonky.

I’m rarely one to say that past champions would beat present, but that is absolutely 100% the case for both the heavyweight and light heavyweight divisions, and the ufc is intentionally snubbing talent to usher in these kickboxing fight cards under mma rules like they still have an audience to farm. They’re the premiere league in a tremendously advantaged market position and still bullshitting. I don’t like that one bit.

Definitely not talking about this forum or the posters. They wouldn't have respected Tom unless he continued from the eyepoke. Even if his eyeball had been on the canvas, anything other than continuing would have been met with Tom is just a pussy and nothing about Cyril being someone who constantly cheats.

Tom was taking a beating, he realized that he was close to defeat which would have ended the spotlight from Jones and likely his very career.

He saw an out and made a decision.

If Tom was the challenger hed have way less to lose and more to gain.

Pretty much this. A lot of comments giving the impression that Gane was destroying Tom but that was not the case at all.
Tom was moving fowards, not afraid at all to engage and the fight was pretty much even until the last minute when Gane landed the jab that bloodied Tom's nose and a couple more. And that was it.

Lets be honest here.

Tom couldn't get the early knockout he was accustomed to. He went all in for a take down which Gane stuffed.

Gane pieced him up at will, dancing just get started, Tom had little for him and was entering untested waters flustered and very likely afraid.

If the fight continued that way, Tom was done. His career likely, done. Spotlight as Jones killer, off.

He and his father made a smart business decision.

Even if Tom lost in the future, it bought him more time, hence his dad asking the ref, do we keep the belt if we just quit?

Gane was destroying him. Before any eye pokes happened Tom had a look of genuine concern and was checking the clock in round 1. Like 2 minutes into round 1. Some people just like to pretend they didnt see it I guess.
