He's good. Problem is there's a faster and more athletic guy at HW that also has power.

Well, would be interesting to see Aspinall stand with Gane, how that would go. I'm not sure Aspinall will land his bombs as easy. I predict Aspinall goes full D1 if they fight. Sadly he'll probably stand with Almeida so we don't know his ground game either. His only opponents at HW he hasn't beat have holes in their game to exploit.

I don’t think he'd be scared to stand with Gane at all. Maybe he'd grapple? Hard to say. Almeida he'd definitely be in sprawl n brawl mode.

I don't think he's scared, just like he took Arlovski down, it's an easy path to victory. I'm just pretty sure it would look like that. Aspinall is just too well rounded for the 1 dimensional division.

True, I think Gane isn't going to scare Tom to get inside and take him down, probably a wrestling match.

I mean his speed and volume are unique at HW for sure. If his TDD becomes better and everyone's forced to stand, even Ngannou couldn't do much standing with him.

It's outstanding, but it's not unique. Tom's seems to ne as good if not better

Gane is smooth on the feet for sure. Moves well, absolutely the one guy that's not athletically just out of his depth vs Aspinall. But he has problems that make Aspinall the better striker too imo.

First, it's MMA. Skillsets affect each other. At this point Gane's grappling deficiencies are known. He has to be wary of being taken down by better grapplers, which Aspinall is. That affects the ability to let hands go. It means starting sprawls sooner which drops hands. (A great example to watch is Mir vs Kongo. Kongo was the better pure striker. But Mir dips his head showing possible level change and it gets a big reaction from Kongo who drops his hands to start his Sprawl because he's petrified of being on the mat with Mir. Instead of shooting, Mir throws an overhand that lands clean and knocks Kongo down and Mir snatches a guillotine from there, fight over.)

Second, power. Both Gane and Aspinall move exceptionally well for their size. Both have good hands, Gane has very good low kicks while Tom's main flaw is probably that he leaves himself too open when throwing kicks. The problem Gane has is that while he's slick, this would be the first guy with faster hands in exchanges than him AND it's a guy where everyone he hits crumbles. That's a bad combination to have to deal with.
