If NFL is A level athleticism

fifa does not have "faster" people. the fastest nfl players are unquestionably faster (and faster than nba players as well), and on average the skill position players are much faster overall. receivers, cornerbacks, safety's, running backs and linebackers can all reach full speed. don't act as if soccer players are frequently hitting top speed.

So I guess when Usain Bolt played football in Australia the NFL players were "unquestionably faster" than him too? Ok, buddeh.

Also, why are you talking about the average of the "skill position players" instead of the total average?

But at least you didnt double down on your bullshit claim about the NFL jumping ability compared to the NBA.

As a bonus:

because the total average is meaningless. they have different roles on the field.

and wtf are you talking about? i never compared the nfl jumping ability to the nba. (although you can compare some here:http://www.homeexerciseequipmenthq.com/highest-vertical-jump/)

here's a defensive lineman btw:

The above guy is an English powerlifter who has ran 10.40 100m as 15 year old and only turned to strength training after injuries

the above are some deadlifts while weighing under 110 kg

Anyone that lifts will know how strong this fella is

Nobody in the NFL could match his squat or deadlift

Impressive display of strength, no doubt about it. Both are great athletes. The top guy is interesting, he clocked in a great time and he has impressive strength now. But how strong was he when he clocked that running speed? Or how fast is he now after the power lifting? Rhetorical question obviously, because you said he turned into power lifting after getting injured, but it leads to my point.

My point is, American Football players are a combination size, strength, speed, and explosiveness, not just one individual attribute measured on its own like strength in powerlifting. The big guys in the NFL are strong, fast, and explosive all together. Some Examples:

davis-vernon-49ers.jpg

Vernon Davis NFL Tight End
Height: 6'3
Weight: 250lbs
Squat: 685lbs
Bench: 480lbs
Deadlift: 720lbs
Standing Vertical: 42 inches
40 Yard Dash: 4.38

andrew-billings-132a7239-d99a-4fe8-90e2-2ee7dcef440-resize-750.jpeg

Andrew Billings Defensive Tackle (his weight lifting numbers were from highschool)
Height: 6'0
Weight: 310
40 yard dash: 4.96
Standing Vertical: 27.5 inches

The weight lifting numbers I'm about to post are from when he was in highschool where he broke the Texas high school power lifting record, which was previously held by power lifting legend Mark Henry. All his weight lifting numbers have been improved, but this is what he was already lifting in highschool at 17 years old.
Highschool Numbers:
Squat: 805lbs
Bench: 500lbs
Deadlift: 705lbs

Some on this forum will look at this athlete's physique from another sport and make fun of him without understanding how incredibly athletic he is for his size. Then they will praise Fedor, DC, and Roy Nelson. HW GOAT Fedor should have taught some of you that you can't judge any man by his physique alone.

Real A star athlete

Highest earner in sports currently

Also by far the most popular sporting figure in the World

Ronaldo bless
Ronaldo was measured to have a 30 inch vertical in his prime. Saquan Barkley by comparison has a 41 inch vertical . 30 inch would put him in fat linemen territory in the NFL

What does he clean? NFL doesnt do much dead lift they squat and clean

What does he clean? NFL doesnt do much dead lift they squat and clean

he doesn't do it any more

I think he cleaned 420 at 181 in

the guy was a shy kid but has good speed and freak power

deadlift 500lb for 17 reps at 181 lb

The guy deadlift 771 at 181 lb as a junior

that is freak power imo

Edit

He squats 410 kg over 900lb in belt and wraps

And over 800lb completely raw

He walks around at 240 lb when doing the squats

Bolt wanted to try longer and in Europe, but he didn't make the cut despite his athletic ability. Football players are also getting paid more than NFL players and there's no risk of CTE. Only people that can't make it in football would ever consider murican football. It's the same argument with MMA as one of the MMA greats Aldo couldn't make a football career in Brazil.

Total average is absolutely not meaningless if you're comparing sports and acting like people transitioning from the NFL are some kind of A-level-athletes compared to MMA fighters by default. You can't only look at peak performers and say NFL players are A-level. This should be self evident and obvious even to an idiot.

Murican student athlete slave market tests don't mean shit. Get the grown ups involved and it'll make more sense maybe. Also, no football player comparison.

Well here's another defensive lineman "btw". Real athletic specimen you have walking around there lol.

LOL. If football or basketball players got a break after every few seconds of action they would be doing this in their sleep. But they actually have to run for more than 10 seconds every five minutes.

Didn't even know that's a thing. How many professional athletes from how many sports are doing broad jumps? First few hits google spits out for "broad jumps" is cross-fit, womens health and then the NFL. Please don't tell me it's only NFL players, cross-fitters and women.

@Takamine86

why you dodging my question, son?

My question - do you believe Arthur Jones would win a fight against Jon Jones?

That's montravius Adam's, 304 lbs and his vertical at the combine was 1 inch less than Ronaldo's 30 inch vertical. He also ran a 4.87 second 40 yard dash. Like most lineman he keeps his weight up specifically for his job. If he slimmed down to 285 and spent a few months training for it he would have a better vertical than ronaldo

Lol you're whole point is soccer is better because they run the whole time...but like, that's all they really do...

90 year olds run as much as soccer players do to work out. Soccer players dont "get a break every few seconds" because they don't need it. It's easy

Yeah, and if he trained his eyesight he would be shooting lazers out of his eyes.

Ronaldo also uses most of his time training on the ball, because it's a lot harder to handle a ball with your feet than with your hands (duh!). He doesn't have time for doing verts, broads and whatever jumps you muricans come up with to measure your "athletic superiority". But he does it for fun sometimes and still beats a ton of the NFL guys that are doing it for a living and to raise their value.

Seems my point went over your head, because thats definitely not the only thing football players are doing. Running is what they are doing on top of all the other stuff.

It's like comparing a sprinter that prepares for his 100m only to a sprinter that just ran 7km and does the 100m afterwards.
