If NFL is A level athleticism

The NFL has A level athletes competing. it is not a sport that requires every member to be A level.

No UFC fighter will touch a guy like this

Stipe will touch him on the chin and KTFO. Hell, 40 year old Overeem would light him up and make him regret ever being born.

2. I see what your saying. NFL'ers can jump to other sports with ease. Thats a nieve statement at best. I don't think there is an any NFL player (even OBJ) that could jump to pro soccer. Its too much much of a finesse ball handling sport. And yeah if Lebron jumped to MMA with 2-3yrs training he still gets KOed by Francis Stipe and wrestle fucked by DC. Even if he had good cardio.

3) the reality is we do have obsese A level guys. DC comes to mind

4) ocho has the same problems any NFL player would have trying to crossover to soccer. Just a different skill set that has to be develop starting in your preteens.

3. I would say that DC is and A-level fighter, but wouldn't call him an A-level athlete. If you look at the world of wrestling where DC came from. I'd say Yoel Romero is an A-level athlete. I'd also say Abdulrashid "The Tank" Sadulaev (p4p best wrestler in the world right now) is A level. If you look at their well roundedness in physical attributes (speed, endurance, strength, flexibility, explosiveness, coodnination etc etc.) + body composition, they are A-level.

Reason why DC did better than Romero though, is because MMA is in some way like soccer, a finess sport, where you need to have good technique in many different aspects and tactical IQ. That's why guys like DC, Fedor and old school Gracies, who are not physically imposing, can dominate and become champions.

Maybe you can compare that to QB position, those guys are really not strongest or fastest on the team, but they are the smartest, the need to have that IQ to read the game, remember play and find good passes, they also need to posses a technical skill to execute a good pass.

Mitrione had a career total of two tackles and two assisted tackles. So four if you feel generous. He was a bottom tier NFL player, though better than Brendan Schaub. He achieved much more in MMA, and although I never considered him elite in MMA, he's had a respectable career. I always liked the guy.
Yeah but he KOed a 40 year old Fedor after nearly getting KOed himself by a 40 year old Fedor so your actual stats are irrelevant and that posters clearly proven TS wrong...... Lol.

Personally I would have used the GIF of him KOing Lewis in half the time though since Lewis wasn't 40 when he did it and just fought for the UFC belt a year ago.

Well that and he doesn't get knocked on his ass in that GIF either which is always a bonus when trying to prove dominance, lol.

He got KOd by nearly 40 year old out of shape, past his prime, Sergey Kharitonov recently. Why? Because Kharitonov was an A-level kick boxer at one point in time and has better striking technique.

So was Crocop which was his second example in that post, shit happens though, not to mention Sergei is much bigger than Fedor with a longer reach so he could hit Matt from the outside instead of having to close distance to catch him which Fedor did.

Mitrione recovered a split second faster than Fedor which is the only reason we're even having this conversation, it's not like he went out and walked threw him without getting touched, in fact only 1 man has ever done that in nearly 50 HW fights at 43 years of age.

The guys lost 5 times and all but 1 of those losses (arguably 2) could have gone either way and had they had immediate rematches Fedor would have more than likely still come in as the favorite.

People act like he just got steam rolled in all his losses which isn't reality.

Yes, but it also heavily emphasizes raw size and strength due to the pauses in the action, allowing for a totally different cardio footprint and athletic model (ie, there few if any Pacific Islanders in the NBA whereas there are fucktons in the NFL due to their body types and genetics)

The A level genetics that will dominate MMA is when high level NBA-type blacks start getting into it as full natives. who somehow wandered into a bad-neighborhood gym at age 11, are 'saved from the streets due to MMA" and grow to 6'7, 245. When the UFC finally gets a Lebron, it will make Jon Jones look quaint.
Agree 100 percent. Look at Deontay Wilder.

The athletic ones go there because of $$ and popularity.
This must be some American thing because where I am from you just choose a sport at a young age and stick with it. Maybe you do more sport than 1 and then you maybe choose one that you're better at, but you are not going to a sport just because your big and strong or something. Is it some college thing where you are encouraged into sport programs or something?

Because American Fatball isn’t a demonstration of a-level athleticism, or anything close in fact.

Only in America are roided up fat blokes with more pads than a hormonal teenage girl placed on a sporting pedistal.

And don’t even get me started on basketball. You would be better of looking at football (the real type) for guys that can fight.

US sports are low level so you can basically pick and choose, even later in life, if you’re reasonably athletic.

Can you imagine an athletic bloke in his 20’s suddenly deciding he wanted to try his hand at football? Would struggle to make the bench for his local pub team.

Yeah thats probably one of the reasons. But I always hear this on here, how all the big athletes of the world are taken up by the big sports and it's just a weird concept too me. Like big athletic guys are predestined to end up in one of the big amerilard sport, like they can't just have chosen ping pong for example.

You tried to sound smart and failed.

If I gave you three years of training, all day every day, you get crushed by the worst cans in UFC and you know it. As would the vast majority of people out there.

lol. DC lost 10 college matches. Also, from his wiki.

"In high school at Northside High, Cormier won 3 Louisiana state championships in wrestling. After 9th grade Cormier only lost twice, both times by injury default. His final high school record was 101-9, with 89 of his victories coming by a fall. He was twice voted the most outstanding wrestler of the state tournament. In 1995, Cormier won a bronze medal in the world championships in Greco-Roman Wrestling cadet (15–16 years old) division. He was also an all-state football player at high school in the linebacker position, and had a personal best time of 4.5 seconds in the 40 yard dash. Cormier was offered a scholarship to play football at LSU, but declined in order to continue to pursue wrestling."

Had an awful to play football at LSU. Literally, one of the top 10 programs in the country. LOL. Yep, just years of practice. Not a special athlete at all.

LOL.

Keep training, kiddo.
Not at HW. That division is shallow as hell to begin with, and hardy is being spoon fed because of his name.

As for DC being offered a spot at LSU football, it's common knowledge that football coaches LOVE big wrestlers as linebackers, precisely because of their wrestling skills. Local wrestling coach literally uses "wrestling for football" to get more kids interested. And linebacker has the least athletic requirements in the NFL. Be big and strong.

"Keep training, kiddo". ;)

“Linebacker has the least athlete requirements in the NFL” LOL. Ok, we’re done. You don’t know what you’re talking about and it’s plain as day to anyone who knows even a teeny bit about football.

Also, lol @ LSU just throwing around scholarships. Yea, one of the top schools in the SEC (maybe the top school when DC was entering college) needs to recruit guys who’ve never stepped foot on a football field. Even if this were true, it would actually help my argument.

You might know about a lot of things, but you don’t know anything about football. That’s clear as day.

So in your mind, big and strong=athletic. That's the fallacy here, and we clearly are never going to agree.

Basketball chins can't handle trauma.

That's why rent-a-thugs run in packs and play team sports.
