If McGregor Doesn't Meet The Hype

If he doesn't win his next match, it doesn't mean that he wasn't any good, it's just that Poirier is a tough match up for anyone in that division.

He obviously has a lot to live up to but losing to Poirier doesn't make him a scrub.

I like him and so far he has delivered. If he loses now it doesn't mean his career ends there so who cares.

Just sit back and enjoy the ride is that so bad?

McGregor's success is no longer contingent upon reaching the highest level. His hype isn't like Uriah Hall's, for example, who was hyped as an amazing striker who could possibly challenge Silva down the line etc, but once he's racked up a couple lackluster performances the shine is gone and relatively no one gives a shit.

McGregor is more known for his personality than his fights, he markets himself, he's as talked about as he wants to be. Worst case scenario for Conor is he has a Chael/Bisping type career.

You realize it's almost entirely the haters sarcastically saying crazy shit like "greatest of all time" to make fun of him, right? :icon_neut

I think it's just retards working on their post counts.

I wouldn't write him off if he does lose to Dustin. 26 is very young in Mma and seems to be dedicated to improving.

Learn to have a laugh man. I'll be supporting him, but I've wondered how he's gonna take a loss.

I guess being undefeated in the UFC winning all your fights by domination, including 2 first round stoppages in the fucking featherweight division is "all hype"?

I know you hate him because of the hype he has on Sherdog, but have you bothered to think about how pathetic it is to hate someone based on their internet fans?

don't hate him at all.

exciting fighter and great on the mic.

that said, it's obvious the sherdog "goat" stuff is trolling etc, but lately it seems people are actually starting to believe he is a top 3 FW when he hasn't done nearly enough to garner that type of respect.

He is already living up to the hype*

but that has nothing to do with the rest of the point. I don't see how people can even argue that he isn't legit.

If he wishes to become GOAT, then he's on the right track. Will he? Who knows. We'll see, but it's pretty evident he can hang with the big boys.

Here's how you argue it, who has he beat?

If you're honest you will know the answer to that question is no one. Can you saw he has some "it" factor as far as drumming up interest in himself, sure but to say he is legit is laughable and shows you are a fan not objective.

He will still be a amusing guy that fights in exciting fashion.

I think it will fade away pretty quick in term of his fans

If/when it happens, it will be the funniest hype-train derail of all time

I would laugh my ass off

If he loses it will be because he was past his prime

This is the nonsense I'm talking about. The hype is "the greatest of all time"

So he's greater than Anderson, GSP, Aldo, Fedor? Really?

This is the reason I stay out of the Heavies.

I almost feel bad for him. There's almost no chance he can live up to the hype he has right now, which isn't to say he can't/won't be a great fighter.
