If Max finishes Frankie......

Max was 21 years old, surely you can understand what a monumental problem fighting in the UFC at age 21 poses. The only guy that good that young was Jon Jones who won a belt at age 23. Max is a murderer now and Conor is mostly sitting idle doing nothing.
Your insinuation is that Max has improved to become the greatest ever whilst since that fight, McGregor has done basically nothing to improve his craft. I rate UFC experience over MMA experience, within the modern era. That is is just myself however, we can have a broader debate on that issue.

Surely, you understand the hypocrisy of assuming McGregor hasn't improved as much, more, or even slightly less to be on a plane less than Holloway where he dominated him in every aspect.

Beat McGregor in a rematch. He got outstruck, and outwrestled badly in his last loss against the lineal FW champ.

Nice idea.... But here is an honest question.

Can you remain the lineal champion if you are no longer a competitor?

If Yes... Connor is lineal champ for eternity

If No... Connor is no longer lineal champion.

It’s Conor until someone beats him at FW.

Let me see Conor take a fight at 145 and weigh in at 145 and I will agree with this.

Until then it's Holloway. Let Conor ruin 1 division at a time.

Jose Aldo - 9 title defenses

Max Holloway - 1 title defense

Jose Aldo is the FW GOAT by an extremely large margin.

He is a competitor. As is GSP.

GSP is the lineal WW champion.

Conor is the lineal FW champion.

Jones is the lineal LHW champion.

You can discuss the validity of such claims, but they remain. All are active fighters who have fought in a combat sport within a year.

Max isn't the Goat Fw until he defends against his own generation for years.

He's fighting aging fighters right now.

Look at Weidman, he beat a bunch of aging legends and then when he fought someone from his own generation he lost, he's not the Goat MW.

I mean I get it... But:

Will Connor be lineal 145 Champion on Jan 12, 2019 even if he does not compete?

Will Connor be lineal 145 Champion on Jan 12, 2020?

You see my point?

Connor is not fighting.

Connor will not fight.

I think people need to start making conclusions based on this.

We're not there yet though.

Why speculate?

It Wasn't that badly. It was clear cut, but Max was never even wobbled or even seriously hurt--just outclassed at the time.

This match with frankie will be fun, because Frankie will pressure max, which is where conor had a lot of success.

"Greatest of all time" for finishing a guy on the third title defense?

and the guy you are talking about replacing was there defending for 10 years?

Sure,, why not,, everything else is screwed up
I feel your pain, big difference between currently the best and greatest in the history of the sport.

Just shows how easily we can dumb down a word or phrase until it holds zero merit

Speculate?

Connor last fought at 145 in 2015

It is 2018

No speculation about that.

Where is the line drawn... ?

He will never compete at Featherweight again bro. So that is how you need to apply your "lineal" judgment.

I'm sorry but not everyone will agree with you on this McGregor nonsense. He doesn't even fight at 145.

Since their fight, which was in August 2013, McGregor has had 8 fights going 7-1. Max has gone 12-0 since then, won a belt, and defended it. At this point, for most people, I don't think there is any doubt that Max Holloway is the better fighter.

Of course there should be debate as to whom is better. Conor had a loss, but he also fought a better average standard of competition than Max since their match. Their performances against common a opponent were both excellent and while Conor hasn't defended a belt he has won a second in a heavier weight class.

Max has improved since they fought for sure. Enough to be better than Conor? Not so sure.

Do you think GSP will fight at WW again? Do you think Jones will fight at LHW again? I have my doubts.

I think the possibility of Max fighting Conor at 155 is out there which would tie up a lot of loose ends. Personally, it is the fight I look forward to most.

Which combat sport did Conor compete in within a year, and when talking about lineal champs, which sport are you talking about?

Are they the same sports?

Title defenses don't mean you're great it's who you defend against. Khabib has zero title defenses and I think he's better than a few past LW champions with title defenses. I'd personally have to see Max do some ground work to call him GOAT. His striking is good, but how is his BJJ? This is mixed martial arts after all.

Oh, and on topic no. It would take Max more than that. Aldo beat Frankie twice already, and Mendes twice. And KZ, and Cub, and Lamas.

Max is great, but it would take him a few more wins to be the greatest.

He competed in a combat sport within a year. Last i checked. I could be mistaken, but that could also be the Prairie Vodka getting to me.

As far as lineal champs, McGregor is the current FW lineal champion. Via tradition he would lose that status within the next 6 months.
