Which is a big if, do you think he overtakes Aldo as the GOAT FW?

Although Aldo does have more title defences, Max has beat him decisively twice in a row and Aldo is still in his prime evidenced by his UFC 200 performance against Frankie. Plus Frankie has never finished which would be a big deal for Max's legacy.

It's a similar situation to another sport tennis where although Federer has more Grand Slams than Nadal, Nadal has a lopsided head to head record against him even though a majority of those matches were in clay.

If not, what do you think Max has to do to overtake Aldo as the GOAT FW?

Beat McGregor in a rematch. He got outstruck, and outwrestled badly in his last loss against the lineal FW champ.

In a fight that happened when Max was 21 years old. In a rematch Max would tool McGregor via cardio alone.

Maybe - but can't be sure until it happens. I am assuming that Conor has improved as well. He embarrassed Max in the first fight.

"Greatest of all time" for finishing a guy on the third title defense?

and the guy you are talking about replacing was there defending for 10 years?

Sure,, why not,, everything else is screwed up

If Max stops Frankie, I will be very surprised and impressed.

He had more UFC experience than McGregor.

I'm sorry but not everyone will agree with you on this McGregor nonsense. He doesn't even fight at 145.

Since their fight, which was in August 2013, McGregor has had 8 fights going 7-1. Max has gone 12-0 since then, won a belt, and defended it. At this point, for most people, I don't think there is any doubt that Max Holloway is the better fighter.

Holloway may not be the GOAT 145'er but Frankie would be his 13th consecutive win and I'm hard pressed to say anyone has ever been better at 145. Aldo, ok, I can accept that, but it won't be long before Aldo is not considered the 145 GOAT at the rate Max is going.

He will finish Frankie but remember Aldo had one of the most impressive reigns spanning several years.Flip side of the coin is that Aldo had some "gimmies" to the weight class which had only developed so much.Max already on an enormous win streak is not only a fighting champ but he's beating the best every time out.
It will be an interesting debate once he does beat Edgar and let's say he fights and defends against Ortega at beginning of summer ****** then the debate will have officially been sparked.

Holloway vs Ortega will be one of the more anticipated fights------ can't wait for that one

Aldo has 10 top 10 wins and max has 7 currently. Beating frankie would make 8.
2 stoppage wins over aldo accounts for something but aldo has more title defenses.

I'd put it even if max beats Frankie and max overtakes him another win

That's fine. I agree with you that McGregor would be neigh impossible to hit 145 again. It doesn't change the facts of my post Max's last loss was Conor McGregor who outclassed him at every aspect and lost his belt by moving up in weight, not from fighting at the weightclass.

Your point of Max being the better fighter is unfounded considering he lost comprehensively to McGregor whilst having more UFC experience.

no, so is the next guy the goat now, seems like it, when he dominates for years he 'll be in consideration

Not really a big if. If Max can stop the takedown what does Frankie have for him on the feet? All the movement can be negated with the kind of pressure Max brings.

Having more title defenses than Aldo would put him as fw goat for sure.

Max murders him in a rematch but yea, we will never know because Conor doesn't fight at 145, so this conversation is stupid. Hell, Conor doesn't fight at 155. If Max beats Frankie he will be 13-0 since his fight with McGregor. That's hard to argue against.

I don't think its going to take years. Holloway is already undefeated since 2013, and a Frankie win would put him at 13-0 in that time period.

Max was 21 years old, surely you can understand what a monumental problem fighting in the UFC at age 21 poses. The only guy that good that young was Jon Jones who won a belt at age 23. Max is a murderer now and Conor is mostly sitting idle doing nothing.
