If Machida wants a fight at MW...

I'd love to see it and it could take place at 205 too. I doubt Vitor would mind moving back up as he called Jones out after his last fight.

I think Vitor's blitzing style would play right into Machida's hands but If Vitor came looking to counter like against Bisping it's more of a toss up.

Edit: Forgot about the Rockhold fight, but I'd still like to see this down the road.

Look at the only people Belfort lost to, a who's who of all time greats. Machida doesn't compare, the only greats he has beaten have been 10 years older than their prime days.

So Machida has lost to a bunch of scubs? Shogun, Jones, and Rampage (Although most people think Machida won that fight). Whats Vitors best win? Wanderlei Silva? Rich? Machida has beat Rashad (Was undeafeated at the time), Shogun, Henderson, Tito (Something Vitor couldnt do), Randy (Again something Vitor couldnt do). Machida has had the much better career. Machida by 2nd tko or Dec.

If Machida and Vitor fought Machida would KO Belfort no doubt. Belfort doesn't have good footwork. You see that front kick he landed on Hendo but his chin is tough, Belfort would go down fast not as fast as a Spider front kick but damn fast.

Randy (Again something Vitor couldnt do)..

Lol Vitor did beat Randy though. And Vitor is a legend. He's beaten a lot of guys and only lost to the best guys when they were in their primes. The BEST Tito anyone has EVER seen beat Vitor via SPLIT decision. Randy beat Vitor when he was young with Top Control, then LOST to Vitor via Cut from having his face beat in and then won via a cut as well. And he lost to Anderson, but nowadays who doesnt?

Machida is a great fighter, but I'd pick Vitor over him any day.

You mean like the same kick Vitor SWATTED away from Jon Jones?

Everyone brings up that kick that Anderson landed as if that means anyone who throws it can KO Vitor. You do realize Vitor has only been KO'd ONCE in his entire career, and it was by ANDERSON THE GOAT SILVA. I don't see why people seem to suddenly think this means Vitor can be KO'd by anyone who throws a front kick. And really that kick only worked because there was no wind up, have you ever seen Machida throw a front kick to the face? He telegraphs it and takes time. Vitor would smack it away/dodge it just like he did against Jones who had less of a wind up than Lyoto.

Machida takes it but it wont be as easy as some of you are making it out to be.

Thank you. While we disagree on the victor, at least we both no it isn't a one-sided definite win for anyone.

then LOST to Vitor via Cut from having his face beat in

Did you see the fight where Vitor beat Randy? Getting his face beat in? Really? I can't take anything you say seriously anymore when it concerns Vitor.

But back on topic.. This would be a fun fight. I see Machida winning though. It would probably be an exciting, competitve round 1, followed by a solid TKO or UD for Machida.

Machida all day. Vitor is exactly the type of fighter Lyoto matches up well against - a striker who is going to chase him around, only to get countered again and again.

As in was going to get his face beat in, my bad for not specifying. Vitor was so calm and ready for that fight and started by immediately outmuscling Randy Couture in the clinch. Which was impressive. It's a shame Randy had to pull out because of his eye, but I felt like Vitor was going to win that fight anyways.

I'll admit that I'm really biased when it comes to Vitor simply because I really, really like the guy he's one of my favorites no doubt. In seriousness though putting all bias aside when it comes to him fighting Machida, it's not easy fight (for either) and I'd love to see it, I like both of them, but I'd definitely go with Vitor to put Machida out. His speed is blinding as he's a much different fighter than he was years ago, more relaxed, more confident, and more dangerous.

Your Bias for vitor is almost as strong as the wrassler's hate for GSP. More relaxed? Seriously? He is anxious as fuck and will run into a counter just like Bader. You grossly underestimate Machida's speed and timing. Vitor couldn't KO Overeem at LHW back when he had a chin of glass. He only beats guys much slower than him or guys with no stand up skills. Don't act like Vitor is a world-beater. He got his ass handed to him by Randy in the rematch and loss to every relevant LHW he has faced.

He was relaxed in the Couture fight that he won, because of Couture's eye injury. Yes he was relaxed. Vitor fights smarter now anyways, or do you not pay attention? And he's more than fast enough to catch Lyoto, and Lyoto's shown that his chin isn't all that great (far from granite) in fights with Shogun and Jones. So Bisping has no stand up skills? Yvel? Wanderlei? Rumble? You now lost all respect. Vitor is one of the best fighters at MW and definitely an Elite at LHW, to say anything else makes you sound like an idiot.

Vitor lasted longer than Lyoto against Jones, if you really wanna play that game.

people are stuck in the past with vitor with the mental problems and cardio

I would see him beating machida IMO

I think Machida would KO Belfort, he is better in every aspect barr boxing, Vitors hands are not much better than Rashads, look what happened to him.

That's not a bad fight, but I think if Machida makes it out of round 1 there won't be enough Jesus/TRT left for Vitor to catch him and we see another KO by foot.

This. Vitor's always been in good shape but damn, I was seriously wondering why he was so cut in the Bisping fight.
Anyways but I give Machida a split decision if he makes it out of the first round w/out getting bum rushed

I'd pick Vitor over Machida. I think he'd rush him and beat him down for a TKO.

sorry Nicki but Victor hasn't rush /beat down anybody in 10 yrs it be a good fight i like to see, Machida UD

victor Was a killer now he's a older smarter fighter...

and no Rumble? has no stand up skills is why hes is a wrestler :)

Me too.

This is not a sentence I thought I would ever see. Especially at this stage in the game.

I absolutely astonished anyone would pick Vitor over Machida.
That's why I'm here, to astonish and show you things you've never seen before. Lol. :icon_lol:

You can't call him an elite LHW until he beats a ranked one. I agree he is a top at middleweight, but at LHW he has proven nothing in years. His victory over Randy is a shallow one because that cut was a fluke. In the rematch he was soundly defeated. He lasted longer against Jones because he played defensive and was on his back most of the time. Where was his lightning fast striking there? Lyoto would tool him just like Bones and Anderson did, and he'll try to win from his back. Rumble was terrible at cutting weight and it made him gas ridiculously fast. Yvel is also slow and a gas giant. I agree that the Wandy win was impressive, but that centuries ago in fighting years. Chonan beat Silva. Fair comparison? Thought so. Bisping is a point fighter with a suspect chin. He beats grapplers to decisions with jabs. He was dropped by Hendo who moves at a turtles pace. Like I said. He beats slower guys or guys with no serious striking ability.
