Here’s the thing about BJJ and UFC/MMA fighters

Most these dudes aren’t taking gi classes, which is the ONLY way to “color” up and have actual recognition across the “bjj community”

You can train without a gi and never be nothing beyond a “white-belt” even if you trained and fought for decades. You can even walk into gyms and tap most of the room, if you didn’t get rank from wearing a gi under a legit instructor, you’re just a white-belt

I a bit suffer not suffer from this. I have been doing nogi for over 20yrs, primarily learned it only to do fight mma. I still practice it and love the wrestling parts of it

The few times Ive worn a gi, the instructors get mad cause Im smeshin’ and end up saying “You ain’t no white belt”, but sir, I wasn’t given a belt so I wore a white one to class…..
