If Charles beats Islam, is he the new LW Goat?

No, Khabib didnt lose 9 times to guys he should have beat. Just for that Oliveira will never supass khabib, I don't even care about GOAT discussions. But those claims are just boring. Resumes talk are overrated too.
Longevity matters too which is why claims that khabib is goat are boring. Or course a khabib fan would say resumes are overrated lol

I don't care if someone lost a lot, for me it's the amount of quality wins.

I feel like Oliveira and Khabib are pretty tied right now, but I would give the edge to Khabib based on dominance etc

But if Oliveira wins, he's definitely LW goat for me

IMO, yes. The greats are defined by the challenges they faced and overcame.
The consensus great in boxing is Muhammad Ali, despite fighters like Rocky Marciano, Floyd Mayweather, Lennox Lewis, etc... being undefeated.

Dustin and Justin are still at the top of the division and literally who people mention for impressive wins for Charles lol. I can't take this kind of stuff seriously AT ALL.
Matchup. That's the word so many don't understand here.

Naw, your bias is what you don't understand here.
Except I am talking about something that is objectively and demonstratable true in terms of how styles matchup. You are making a personal accusation about bias when you know nothing about me and have never seen or talked to me.

Big difference.

Naw, there is absolutely nothing objective about your conclusions lol.

His best wins ARE Khabib's best wins; he beat Khabib's best opponents, finished them. Topping Islam would definitely top Khabib in terms of legacy.
Charles went life and death with those guys, getting dropped and hurt multiple times while Khabib made them all look like CANS and beating them when it mattered

Lenox Lewis was not undefeated

When did khabib beat Dariush , Chandler and Ferguson?

Dariush - #4
Chandler - #4
Ferguson - #3

RDA - #5
Conor - #1
Barboza - #4

In most cases, I'd actually agree with you. But in this specific case, this doesn't make sense.

Because if we theoretically added 9 more fights to Khabib's career, what scenario makes him worse than Charles? Even if we suspend belief and pretend the 29-0 guy goes 0-9 in his next 9 fights,....he would still have essentially the exact same resume as Oliveira (but with more title defenses).

So what would Khabib fighting longer really do in the debate vs Charles? He can basically only improve his resume.

I guess he'd have to beat him again in the trilogy.

In that case, yes.

Oliveira might be in the discussion for greatest lightweight champion if he beats Islam and picks up a couple more title defenses, but he has way too many bad losses to be in the discussion for LW GOAT absent a whole lot more defenses than that.

I definitely don’t wanna hear:

“The champion has a name, his name is Charles Oliviera.”

being repeated 1000x times.
