Well and the simple fact that he wasn't number 1 before he won the title, and he hasn't defended the title once and he has no wins over anyone ranked C-4..... also has less ranked wins than anyone C-4.


When people who don't quite earn title fights get to win a title, It creates this loop where they are mistaken for an elite fighter when in reality, It's more likely that the only top 5 fighter jdm could beat is belal. Would he have been able to get through shavkat, or morales, or brady or garry to earn that title shot? my intuition tells me he loses all of those fights. Just like Jamal hill. MMA is self correcting. if you got to a certain position via circumstances, you will be exposed over and over because staying ranked is WAY easier than earning a ranking. That's what needs to change

MMAth works all the time, and common opponents matter. Unfortunately, yet predictably, you’re too stupid to see that this isn’t MMAth that we’re talking about. It’s about activity, and hence, merit. There’s precedent for champions to come back after injury and long layoffs and receive an immediate title fight, but shavvy is not that.

He was a highly ranked (perhaps obvious title contender) fighter on the cusp of a TS. To say that he should be afforded some kind of return rights is baseless and unprcedented.

They should. I think that's how it should go. That's NEVER how the rankings were in the UFC. It has always been more total accomplishment with a recency bias. The "#1 contender" for the belt is often the guy from like #3 - #7. You often get a shot at the title with people ranked above you, because the people above you are off a loss or recently already fought for the title.

Just a 'recorrection' from a big change last time out. Happens kinda frequently whenever there's a big jump, the rankers come back to it in a week and go "Actually maybe one more/less"

Man, Leon and Brady both plummeted 5 spots in a single week. They're barely in the top ten now when they were ranked #4 and #2 two Saturdays ago.

Shav has been out awhile. Garry has been active & on a hot win streak while Shav been sidelined. Garry's recent success holds more weight than Shav's win over him at this point in time.
