I don't understand Arlovski or the UFC's commitment to keeping him.

As an MMA old timer fan I can say at this point his performances are an insult to other fighters on the card. This is an excellent card with a lot of younger up and coming guys getting finishes.

If you are a company man and stick it out and dont whinge about pay or conditions and can hang from the old school, DFW rewards you and looks after you. to the detriment of the fighters health in some cases.

ofc the unspoken message is lots of these same guys could've done much better for themselves unyoked from the ufc bridle, but thats a high risk approach and lots of them are happy to just carry on
Exactly and Alonso’s has fights in the UFC going back to 2000. Dana’s always seemed fond of the guys who fought back when the UFC wasn’t shit

Stepping stone for the new guys. But he's just making them all look sucky win or lose.

It's been several years now that I've viewed Arlovski fights as 'speedbumps'. It's really kind of amazing.

You can always count on a bare minimum performance from him that's guaranteed to last all three rounds and result in a 29-28 decision.

Part of me thinks that UFC matchmakers put together math that averages out the 'likely' length of a broadcast. In the event of a potentially 'fast' card, they toss in an Arlovski fight.
He fought a competitive fight

Easy answer.

He sells tickets on the undercard. Ufc comes to your town,oh shit arlovski! Also he is a good way to gauge new talent. If he beats you,you suck

Only the ones who toe the line.
accept middling rewards and mediocrity and he looks after you. Challenge yourself or the org for something above average, and he'll do his best to sink you unless you are the 1%

Andrei has somehow found the formula for turning HW fights post 40 into a safe, predictable income revenue.
I picture his wife not even taking her eyes off her favorite show when he comes home after a fight and microwaves some lasagna.

Arlovski is a ufc legend.
He’s been loyal to the company for many years
He is former heavyweight champion
He’s 44 (about to be 45) years old

How anyone can talk shit on him now is beyond me. It’s a damn miracle he’s even hanging with the heavies of today. He deserves every penny of his pay. Maybe Even more tbh.

as boring as he is, i have to say he's excellent at weeding out guys who have no potential. almost everyone who beats him now a days goes on to become a top HW.
Maybe I didn't look hard enough, but I never really seen anyone even mention the term gatekeeper here. Because that's what AA is nowadays, whoever gets past him and makes it look good enough would warrant them to be a top HW talent in the UFC.

The thing is Arlovski has no illusions of bein a champ

he doesnt mind fighting ANYONE ufc wants him to fight. Alot of guys in his position arent willing to do that.

His opponent couldnt even finish him. If anything, he should be cut, and Arlovski should live to fight another day. He is a few months older then me.
Yeah man if Arlovski's basic sparring session give you trouble, then you probably arent that good and they gonna know how to match you up in your next fight. (feed you to someone they want to build up)
